PO Boxes... your experiences and recommendations?

So hypothetically, if I were contemplating receiving items through the mail, and quite possibly illegal items, how would I best go about doing so?
I've been told PO boxes are a valid solution, but don't they still open suspicious-looking packages on occasion? Any recommendations with how to go about the whole process or your experiences with such would greatly be appreciated.

I found a "friend" that opened a PO Box and let me use it, friends are easy to find$$$$, that's all I can say.
I don't use it illegally, I only had it opened so I could trade on this site anonymously and remain in a state of paranoia, but the internet is serious business, so you know.

It just seems that adding more people who know about sketchiness would raise more paranoid possibilities. I mean, idealistically, I wouldn't want anyone to know that I'm receiving packages besides myself and the sender.

I like this idea. Where would you suggest getting a PO box? Private or governmental? And how much does this ish cost, and what form of identification is required to setup one? (Apologies for such a barrage of questions. )

Whatever you do don't use UPS store, I would avoid Government since that may be a crime, and you don't want to break the law.
I only give you advice to remain anonymous to avoid identity theft, I do not give advice on breaking the law.

I'm merely inquiring for a hypothetical situation in a book that I'm writing... sheesh.
Why is UPS bad?
