These things are awesome...my field guide doesnt have anything matching these completely..anyone have a guess??

Looks like it to me. I find birds nest fungus everywhere where I live, they're on the ground absolutely everywhere I look. They're neat. I've yet to see any with a lid still though, mostly old ones.

didnt know anything about em til i got home and read about em in my field guide...amazing how they reproduce..just by drops of rain splashing into the slime and washing out the seed thing ....awesome

yeah, the "eggs" they're totally neat. I'm always surprised when I find them because they're usually pretty small and under a lot of bark and duff. I've found some neat ones on little twigs that make them look like little elf pipes haha... and I found some the other day on this rotting knot of wood, if i could get my computer to cooperate I would post it.

There is more than one species of Bird's Nest fungus.  Yours are Cyathus stercoreus.

Nice macro shot.

What regions do birds nest fungus grow in? Ive never seen one, but always wanted to.

yes extremely tiny, the first time i found them i squeezed one and it popped open and these little seed like looking things came out it was awesome.
