Finally, a safe school.

I would like to make a bet with anyone that there will never be a school spree shooting at that school.

The GFSZ act of 1995 is another typical law that makes people less safe than they were before the legislation.

Why the hell are school shootings such a big fucking deal? The odds of getting killed in a school shooting are only about half that as of your child getting raped or killed after being abducted by a stranger as opposed to someone they know.

Which is only about 1/3 the chance you have of being struck by lightning.

The real problem is clouds. And we waste all this effort on stranger danger and school violence, while the clouds sit there laughing at us.:nonono:

No don't unarm yourselves, just stop sensationalizing marginal issues and making them seem like a top-killer among American youth.

More kids die from school-activity related injuries a year than from school-shootings.

If you want to focus on keeping the kids safe, focus on where they go AFTER school. This is where the majority of the actual violence occurs.

But there is no money in it for the politicians without sensationalism. They worry about THEIR kid, being in the school, no matter how unlikely the situation would be. Not YOUR kid over there, on the street for hours after school.

It's an issue that is real, but marginal in relation to the attention it's getting. That's all I'm saying.

Its a rural school with 110 students.  I think its a safe bet there wouldn't have been a shooting with or without guns.

I wonder if there has ever been a shooting in the entire town.

really the original passage did nothing, it said kids and criminals cant bring guns to school, if you were licensed you
could carry a gun on school campus

(A) It shall be unlawful for any individual knowingly to possess a firearm that has moved in or that otherwise affects
    interstate or foreign commerce at a place that the individual knows, or has reasonable cause to believe, is a school
    zone.
(B) Subparagraph (A) does not apply to the possession of a firearm—
  (i) on private property not part of school grounds;
  (ii) if the individual possessing the firearm is licensed to do so by the State in which the school zone is located or a
        political subdivision of the State, and the law of the State or political subdivision requires that, before an
        individual obtains such a license, the law enforcement authorities of the State or political subdivision verify
        that the individual is qualified under law to receive the license;
  (iii) that is—
    (I) not loaded; and
    (II) in a locked container, or a locked firearms rack that is on a motor vehicle;
  (iv) by an individual for use in a program approved by a school in the school zone;

        individual or an employer of the individual;
  (vi) by a law enforcement officer acting in his or her official capacity; or
  (vii) that is unloaded and is possessed by an individual while traversing school premises for the purpose of gaining

          authorities.

the latter passage made it so that it was a mandatory 1 year
expulsion and prosecutors would have to prove an interference
with commerce... more retarded legislation

So what the fuck, if the teachers can carry guns for safety, why not let the kids have a few guns too. I know I'd trust my friends I went to school with more with a gun than some of the teachers I had. :wink:

Good point, these blanket laws are garbage, why didn't they allow in the GFSZ 1995 for staff of a school to possess firearms on campus if they passed a yearly psychological exam, qualify once a month on a 20 yard range, and qualify on a simulated scenario once a month?

I support teachers having guns at school given a few conditions:

1) the weapon is kept in such a manner that students cannot access it (i.e. carried at all times by the teacher, not in a purse or desk drawer)
2) the teacher is trained to use the weapon, and practices at a shooting range once a month (or so)
3) the weapon is loaded with safety rounds (glaser safety slugs, etc)

I don't think its necessarily the best idea. Based mostly on the fact that throughout school I remember as a class making at least a few teachers leave the room in tears.

Maybe I just got a few rookie or sensitive teachers, but seeing that kind of emotional instability from the person supposed to be in charge of guiding and protecting your children for about 6 hours a day does not instill much trust.

I personally wouldn't trust the public school system or its teachers to teach my children about sex. I really could not trust one with a gun in the classroom.

being upset because she taught a classroom full of twats doesnt
mean she's going to draw and fire on a class full of students,
I for one was around when corporal punishment was still an
option, I remember getting a few licks from numerous staff
members, I also remember seeing teachers that were angry but
never one that was pushed to violence due to an unruly class

only teacher I saw use violence was when a big fight broke out

plus with the psych eval, it reduces the 'emotional' teachers
that would be carrying weapons
