Yea, Forget enlightenment I just wanna live in the watch phase, Ive been there and I love it.

Were you able to integrate the info on sleep patterns? For me, the idea of two dynamics to consider rather than one made sense, but Ive yet to get it down to a science.

mmm well its basically when you wake up in the middle of the night, and you just lay there "on watch" for predatory danger to your group. You're not consciously waiting for danger, but you are in a very relaxed state of readiness. Most of us do not have anything predatory to worry about so this supposed evolutionary trait is for us basically that really chill head-space you can wake up to in middle of the night. Hopefully I do a decent job describing it, but the author of this book actually writes a whole chapter on it.

Heh, well I would experiment further with the watch sleep cycle, but the demands of college and a mundane 9-5 society require that I try to catch a solid 9+ hours of sleep a night.  Next summer, though, definitely investigating this further.

I have, it's a very simple idea really, all you need to do is focus on certain aspects of that remembered state and the state will come back. That's how NLP works, they call it anchors. Anchors are certain memories or certain cues that are linked to a certain state of mind. Concentrating on those anchors will re-induce that state of mind. You need very good attention skills tho, it's a simple idea, but it's hard to do.

To remember the whole picture, you can concentrate on certain details of it, and the whole picture will come back.. resonance of thoughts.

like the circle of excellence?

Never heard of it, I only know the very basics of NLP, but I looked up this circle of excellence and yeah it's the same principle, but this circe of excellence looks like a more advanced technique, I haven't thought about adding up several states of minds together... I'll have to give that a try, looks like it would be more effective..

How do you feel about Milton Erickson?

He had much to teach, particularly about the power of metaphor.

hmm, the watch mode does sound sweet.  I think i may have experienced it before.  I have this kinda creepy closet in my room that gets pretty dark at night and I would wake up in the middle of the night just staring in there expecting some creature of the underworld to pop out.  Not scared or jumpy or anything just like you said "ready" for it to happen.  I think waking up and not being "programmed" has something to do with it.
