The devil in the mirror...

What does it mean when every time I look in the mirror while tripping, I see myself transformed into a demonic version of myself. I mean, I know to some degree what it means, having read some of Jung's theories about archetypes, as well as my share of Joseph Campbell. But what I don't understand is what I'm supposed to do in order to get past that stage.
Ideas?

Whenever I look in the mirror tripping, I just see my pupils growing larger as a giant spiral forms around my head.
The only freaky thing about my face is the weird-ass expression that seems to be on it.

There are a lot of people who don't like looking in mirrors while tripping because it freaks them out. I can't speculate on why you see what you do.. I don't consistently see one sort of distortion when I look in the mirror.
Is the evil-you really consistent in appearance?

i believe its a self image problem... I am the same way.. i cant really stand to look at myself in the mirror when im tripping... lot of hostility.. I attribute a lot of my self image problems to choices i made a long time ago...
actually mushrooms helped me identify this problem.. and since i have been tripping i can honestly say its helped me become more harmonious with my feelings about myself and those around me.. i used to see my wife and best friend in a same manner while tripping and it help me come to grips with being married and what i want out of a relationship.. and what a dick i think my friend is...

I used to stick my hand in the fire when I was young ,now I dont do that anymore......or simply put, stay away from the mirror,...... what ya lookin for in there anyway Even if you think you see yourself as the jolly green giant your not really the jolly green giant,no use looking in there for anything really.

Methinks your problem is in assuming that this is a stage you have to get past. Sometimes weird, unexplainable shit happens with psychedelic usage. Just kick back and enjoy your altered perspective.

Happens to me as well, I thought I was the only one. Started coming on about 2 years ago. Quite intimidating at first, but now it has become quite a highlight of my trips...certainly interesting.
Although I can't remember a time this has happened on shrooms, only acid.

I had the same experience whilst tripping hard on mescaline. Quite scary to be honest but also very entertaining. Never with psilocybin though :/

no one has said this yet but it also may be how you look. i personally look goofy in the mirror, and my buddy looks like a skull, could have a role in it.

It's just your Shadow man, the Shadow mind tends to project onto other people when tripping too.
"According to Jung, the shadow is instinctive and irrational, but is not necessarily evil even when it might appear to be so. It can be both ruthless in conflict and empathetic in friendship. It is important as a source of hunches, in understanding one's own more inexplicable actions and attitudes (and others' reactions), and for learning how to accept and integrate the more problematic or troubling aspects of one's personality. (For example, see The Emperor's New Clothes.)
So, the shadow is prone to project: turning a personal inferiority into a perceived moral deficiency in someone else. Jung writes that if these projections are unrecognized "The projection-making factor (the Shadow archetype) then has a free hand and can realize its object--if it has one--or bring about some other situation characteristic of its power." These projections insulate and cripple individuals by forming an ever thicker fog of illusion between the ego and the real world.
Jung also believed that "in spite of its function as a reservoir for human darkness—or perhaps because of this—the shadow is the seat of creativity."

Interesting. It first happened to me on a strong acid trip, when it seemed like the reflection wanted to jump out of the mirror and take hold of me. Very scary. Now every time I shroom and look in a mirror, I see it.

Interesting strategy. I've tried staring it down, but always get the sense that something really bad is going to happen if I continue for too long.

yea but once you get through the bad part you will realise that it wasnt that bad to begin with and everything is all good then your devil projection will propably change
