Smashing Pumpkins Poll
    #8821759 - 08/24/08 07:27 PM (15 years, 7 months ago)

The Smashing Pumpkins are for sure the greatest or one of the greatest rock bands of all times,  and Siamese Dream is my favorite album.  If you haven't listened to it....GO BUY IT RIGHT NOW and listen to it 4-5 times,  every song on it is great.  My favorite songs are Mayonaise,  Hummer,  Sweet Sweet,  Quiet.  But every song on it kicks ass.

You can choose as many songs as you want.

Greatest of all time? Probably not.

Most important and influential artists of the grunge era, abso-fucking-lutely. More so than Nirvana in my opinion.

But in the grand scheme of things, they're definitely my favorite band. Many have come and gone and peaked my interest throughout the years, but the Pumpkins have always held a special place in my heart.

IMO, I liked Gish just a little bit more than Siamese Dream.

I could talk all day about them

what i mean is that they didn't spend much time on lyrics.  i love the lyrics and wouldn't want them different but even Billy Corgan says they didn't spend much time on them.

Smashing Pumpkins is the best, siamese dream is what introduced me to alternative music at 13.

I was 13 when that album was released, damn:nonono:

i would love to see a source on that, because, especially with siamese dream, billy was a homeless junkie who didn't do much else but write and score drugs

I'd agree partially, their lyrics for the most part were never a big deal, but that's ok. Billy's one-of-a-kind voice, mixed with his insane guitar solos, on top of Jimmy Chamberlin's incredible talent on the drums was enough to fill in gaps.

i could be mistaken, but i think james iha was the lead guitarist while billy played rhythm

I mean they definitely switched on and off, but it was Billy crushing those solos most of the time.

I suggest the Vieuphoria DVD if you're a big fan.
