A question about psilocybin and serotonin

It is my understanding that the psychedelic effects of mushrooms occur as a result of psilocybin (funny how this forum's spell check underlines that word) binding with serotonin receptors. I am also of the understanding that brain receptors can be saturated so that every available receptor is filled with a chemical of some kind (I believe this is why high-dose LSD trips last so long, the chemical floats around in synapse because nothing can uptake it).'
My question is, if receptors can saturate and psilocybin operates on serotonin receptors, assuming this occurs in a high-dose subject, would serotonin (the chemical itself) stop being active in the body, at least until there were available receptors for it to bind to?

no, there are many types of seretonin rtecepotors, and psilocybin only binds to one, the 5ht-2a seretonin receptor
btw the spellcheck is in firefox itsself and not the forum, thats why its underlined

Hmmm... so what effect does that have on the way serotonin operates endogenously? It must do something...
