Serious mold problem
    #8814676 - 08/23/08 10:14 AM (9 years, 11 months ago)

Last night while cleaning my room, I moved my DRY hydro buckets away from the wall near my bed. Ive been going to the Dr. alot because I am always coughing and its been hard for me to breathe. There was some mold growing out of behind the light socket and I threw some hydrated lime on it and it kill it.

So back to the story... I moved these buckets from the wall and there was a shit ton of black and white mold in the corner of the room and about 5' in each direction along the carpet. This was literally 2' from where I lay my head every night.

Im scared that this is a serious problem. I threw 2 quarts of hydrted lime all over the mold. Upon further inspection I looked in the connected room and there was green mold all over that wall!!!

RR HELP!!!!!

When I went to the Dr. they took an xray but I never heard back. Now that I know about the mold I feel like my lungs are full of spores and I just dont know what to do.

you can buy some spray from the shops called "exitmould" I would spray the whole place till wet and make sure all windows are closed then leave the house for 12 hours, come back and open all the windows and let air out.

p.s. dont wait for the quack to call you go back and get your results and tell them about the spores

My old condo in Seattle was seriously contaminated with black mold.  It never bothered my mushroom growing much, but Mrs Rabbit got cancer from it and I was hacking up black shit every morning for an hour.  Now, five months later, I'm still hacking up shit from my lungs, but not nearly as bad.  You need to move away from that crap.  It will slowly make you sicker and sicker.  Get a new place.

Hope everything works out for ya.  I would look into mold remediation.  It might cost you some money though.  Good luck!

mold remediation is spendy and sometimes nessesary especially when it grabs onto the other side of sheetrock and studs its easy to deal with the visible stuff but folks that do mold abatement find the source and work from there very spendy.

i would look into getting a hepe for the room you sleep and and doing what you can do with the visible stuff and dont aggrivate the stuff thats tucked away

stay safe and healthy homey

I don't want to appear alarmist however I've personally seen what mold-infested homes can do to people. The effects can be really gradual or can instantly affect people who walk into a room.

Slight derail: when I was really young, me and my cousin went up to the attic of our house, where nobody had been in a loooong time. There were a lot of stuffed animals there and it was very humid and warm (uh-oh). We sat there, stupidly enjoying the ambiance of the creepy attic and about 45 minutes later we started freaking out and getting woozy. So much so that we had trouble fleeing (in full panic) from the stuffed animals. Fast-forward a week: there was a serious mold problem in that attic that was remedied very expensively. That was my first trip, bad or otherwise.

Years later, I was living in Florida, and stayed at my friend's house often. His mother often complained of the smell in her bedroom. By the end of the year she had to be hospitalized because of respiratory problems, including bleeding in the lungs. She never fully recovered, and now has trouble walking anywhere further than down the street.

Please, please, please do everything you can to take care or distance yourself from the problem. Mold is no joke.

Psilocybe comes from the Greek root "psilos" meaning bald head and Cubensis because it was first recognized as a new species from specimens collected in Cuba.

What kind of black mould was that RR? I've been growing in a bathroom and have noticed recently that some kind of black water mould has been running rampant. It's the kind that you get in the grout of bathroom tiles and on plastic shower curtains, etc - really slimy and black. Is that what you had in your condo? I was thinking that it shouldn't be a problem as it doesn't seem to sporulate, but I'd like to know whether or not it's what has cuased you problems.

Thanks.
