yeah the gills are inky black..also the print is black as well........I dont have a camera (I know thats key to id)

Do u know any others that have black prints besides pan on grass?

One of the mushrooms had a more Ovate cap feature, but the rest were more convex,,, whats Ur thoughts?

And also the gills I could tell was already gonna give a black spore print since they were already damn black in the inside.

take a sharpee and scribble next to the print, if you still think it's black and not dark brown it's probably a pan sub

do you see lines going up the stem?

No. Not all jet black spore prints are active, all Panaeolus spore prints are black.

And what does the OP mean by edible?

Inky black gills? Sounds like a coprinellus/coprinus.

Lacrymaria velutina can also have prints that are nearly black if not black. Read what the link says about edibility.

As far as I know, NO Panaeolus will make you sick and NO mushroom with black spores on a lawn will make you sick with the slight exception of LV which I posted and Coprinopsis atramentaria if you consume alcohol.

I seriously doubt anyone can come up with another species that fits your mushroom and could be dangerous.

a picture really would be instrumental in identification. Borrow a camera from someone if they aren't already dry and get a good cap shot and a gill shot.

was it a really light brown or dark brown, and was the stem thin, like 1-2mm, or 4-5 mm?
