I guess thats what most people would call it. Mogwai, God is an Astronaut, 65DaysOfStatic, God Speed! You Black Emperor, Yndi Halda, Mono etc. Its really awesome stuff. I guess I'm getting older and can't really listen to black metal and hardcore constantly anymore.

Have you tried Battles?

i know this isn't a band, but you should listen to The Fountain Soundtrack, particularly the track "Death is the Road to Awe".
pretty epic/moving song. i'll try to find a youtube link.
make sure you get all the way through it.

Mogwai definitely falls under Post-Rock and Mogwai is being conducted by Clint Mansell in tandem with the Kronos Quartet on the Fountain soundtrack.
