Martha & Monotub competition! Got Pics! Come Check it Out
    #8808839 - 08/22/08 01:37 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Hey all Ive been a long time reader on this forum, but I havent posted much.  Ive been practicing mycology for a long time and I have some questions about a Martha Grow.  There are pics below that belong to a foaf, he wants to know if this is a contam, or just a very wet spot.... its hard to tell from the pic Im sure.  Also, this strain is new to him, should there be fuzzys at the bottom of the fruits?  Also included are some of the foafs monotubs.  Hes thinking the tubs are the way to go in the future.

"Fuzzys" are normal. Can't see the wet spot. Use your nose. Smell is important in this sport. Someone's going to come back and say that if you smell your shrooms you will die. I'm telling you that you can smell the "sour this ain't right" smell without drawing a line with a contaminate. No need to snort it, just take a whiff. And remember, safety first. (Maybe that'll hold 'em off.)

Answer: Because they're ugly and they stink.

Also you do not have to spend money on poppers anymore!  Ah, nothing like snorting a good contam once in a while

you may need more fresh air. your fruits look a tad skinny in both cases.

Well the foaf's tub wound up netting 6 oz. dry.  Not too bad for a first try on just the first flush.  He was using EQ i believe.

Quick question, I saw on some other threads that in a dub tub / monotub you don't have to case them.  You can just wait until the substrate is fully colonized then fruit it.  Is that true?  I saw MonsterMitch & RR say it, I just wanted to see if there were any threads dedicated to this topic... That would save a TON of time and Mess.  Would it affect the size of the crop or amount of flushes?

I have had some success with no casing layer in monotubs but I have also had some not so successful results in the same conditions with no casing layer. I would recommend a casing just because it's more assured and with monotubs it's so easy anyways you might as well put in the little extra effort to guarantee good results.

Dude! That's amazing. I would love to get half of that. Sub? Spawn? When I can afford it, I am gonna upgrade to a martha. Congrats.

I'd have to disagree and say that the martha won.  That was like wall to wall canopy, perfectly even and uniform, as opposed to the monotub that had alot of variation, and looked a bit skinnier.  Just what I thought from the pictures.  Incredible job though, keep it up!
