Birthing problem? Verm attacked with mycelium in jars

When I birthed these jars I expected the dry vermiculite on the top to just fall off. Instead, yes there was a very thin layer of verm on the top (dry) that dumped out but under that was moist verm that apparently wicked with mycelium and the BRF mix.
*Also, these cakes were fully colonized about four days ago. I let them sit as recommended to allow the mycelium to take a better hold.
These cakes are 26 days old.
How I birthed:
1. Opened jars and 'tapped' out the top layer of dry verm 2. With cake in hand, put it under running water 3. Pieces of the verm infested mycelium fell off under the running water 4. Put the cakes in the pot of water 5. Cakes currently are submerged in a big covered pot of water in the fridge.
So basically the verm layer was colonizing with mycelium. I washed what verm i could and didn't try to break off the remaining.
Here is a picture of how my cakes look:

I'm planning to fruit with using Poor mans pod By magash.
My question is wtf should I do. Is this ok?

Thanks man.
Yea actually I birthed one cake like 4 days ago. Except I cut the brown stuff off. Threw some moist perlite in an old coffee thing, put the cake in and put on a loose lid....

I fan it 3-4 times a day and can see really good mycelium growth going on.
You helped me before +

I actually have four to work with. The 5th is in it little chamber as shown above. Three I dunked tonight. The forth jar I put aside back into inoculation because I wanted to have at least another if I completely messed up.
Trays sound good though. I thought about it before but figured that would be for next time or something... I dunno.. more I think about it I wanna just do it.

what he means is since you just have a few cakes, *if* you want more shrooms you can crumble those things up, and mix them in with some coir, pasteurized straw, dung, or any mixture of those bulk subs. See, if those are half pint cakes, you can mix one in with 2 pints of a bulk substrate, and get four times the yield if not more. If you do that, yeah go ahead and save one and mix it at a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio so it colonizes quickly, when that bulk gets colonized spawn it to another 1:4 ratio. I think that's called super spawning or something.
