mycelium under a rock?

I was at a park today and i looked under a rock and found some white webby material on some dead straw..could that be a type of mycelium, can they live under rocks were its dry?

I would think under a rock would hold more moisture, yes its possible.

It was mycelium.  If you know where to look you'll find it everywhere.  Even in the fridge. :wink:

Interesting, I noticed it a lot under rocks were there is dead grass, I always thought it was a spider web..buts it under something so it didnt make much sense.

Dude, it's awesome!

I have this picture of yellow-staining mycelium growing on a branch.  You'd have to see it to appreciate it.  Very rhizomorphic.

I think the one I looked at was extremely light blue and fuzzy..I think, not to sure, whats ur thoughts, ever seen one with that color?

Nope.  I try to look for clues every time I pick a mushroom.

Here's one of the first pics I posted here.  Look at that ropey-ass mycelium growing from the end of the stem.  That's rhizomorphic.

After the mycelium has stored enough nutrients and the conditions are right, meaning temperature, moisture and humidity, they come out (fruit).

That can be from 30 days to a couple of years depending on the species.
