Not really . I'm trying to see what the benefit of crumbling them together would be without spawning to some type of bulk . You didn't gain any more nutrients .
I have tried the damp verm on top , as well as on bottom
and found that to help immensely Those 2 cakes were a little over a 1/2 ounce on their first flush Next time try setting them on a little damp verm also . Better yet , crumble them into some type of bulk , at least some coir , next time
Good Job

Did you?
Do the math and let us know.
Figure the surface area of 2 cakes versus the surface area of your one .

Do the math on the amount of surfice area touching the moist verm where most the shrooms grow.

No . Do the math on exposed fruiting surface . Most peeps dunk and roll their cakes , which means all the exposed cake has a damp verm casing . If you take that into account , you don't have as much covered area as 2 dunked and rolled cakes . Only your top surface is covered in damp verm

Damn that's nice. I'm going to try this with a few of my cakes. I just gota find something to hold the verm, like what you got.

Well , I don't always follow the TEK's completely . I find it easier to use damp verm
But I don't do cakes anymore .

it's a nice cake and I'm glad that it worked, but it's not really new besides taking it out of the container perhaps. Which would increase the surface area compared to crumbling and casing in the bowl. But you risked sterility and set the cake back close to a week. The surface area of your cakes to normal ones is probably pretty close to the same since the same amount of substrate is used in both. And the verm touching argument is weak too since the majority of the substrate on your cake is in the center which didn't fruit at all. The center of a normal cake is much smaller. And like was said, you didn't add anything to the cakes, so the outcome of the side-by-side comparison would more than likely be about equal after the flushes ran their course. You'd be better off using normal cakes without crumbling, dunking them, rolling them if you wish, DEC'ing them, and adding water to the casings as needed. You'd end up getting flushes sooner with less risk which is the name of the game. It's a pretty cake tho, and congrats.
