I used Linux for the last 8 years. I just gave up on it. It is a nice alternative but it is barely an alternative.

I'm using dual boot, XP and OpenSuSE 11.0. no complaints here
for multimedia apps, linux leaves much to be desired; but for scientific research and raw cluster processing power, it is unmatched.. neither mac nor windows can hang. Roadrunner (worlds fastest comp, processes in petaflops) runs on Red Hat enterprise besides..ntfs is gay. ext3 > ntfs

when you have the time to maintain a linux system it's great.
a lot better than it used to be- dependencies and such aren't a big deal with apt-get and rpms etc.
the best thing about it is BASH and the filesystem in general... scripting is really powerful.
nowadays i just use windows xp, for shear ease of use. i guess no matter how much i love linux, i still end up using windows and that says a lot.
maybe in a few years time, who knows

STFU Ubuntu is just as good if not better than windows the only problem is that you cant play most PC games on it.
It has all free software etc and really is not all that difficult to use.
I love it.

I tried Ubuntu on my laptop, but there are no video drives for it so that ended my great non-windows experiment.

I use gentoo.. I have done for ages now. I only use windows for itunes (because I have a 6th gen ipod; which are not currently supported on linux ).
I can't stand to use windows now.. it seems so clunky and ugly compared to gnome & compiz-fusion .

I love Linux. It is great and has millions of tons of potential. It is desktop ready for those who want to put in the extra work and don't mind the things that are broken with it.

Flash has been working for quite some time now, even auto-installs in firefox.
I don't see where you're having problems?
I Kubuntu; hope they hurry the f**k up with KDE4, so buggy right now.

Flash works great for me in ubuntu, were you trying to use it on a firefox beta version? I had issues with that once. I'm running gutsy gibbon on my homebuilt desktop and it works great, it's when I try to upgrade to hardy heron that everything goes to shit for me.
