Sorry, but I would at least put some gloves on and rub my hands with alcohol. Then CAREFULLY and QUICKLY move them from point A to point B.

I guess every cultivator has its own way. But I really moved and touched a lot of cakes with my bare hands and never had a problem. If you want to be on the safe side do as shroomy recommends.

Well, here's my plan of action.
1. Remove cakes from FC. 2. Add more wet perlite. 3. Drill holes around top perimeter for fresh air and on bottom for CO2 release. 4. Replace cakes. 5. See pins. 6. Profit!!!
Sound good?

In principle I agree with your plan. But I would grab a laundry basket or a similar large tub and put your perlite their. That way you can really work without making a major perlite mess. Drill holes everywhere, but do not overdo it. Have a layer of 5 inch perlite. Look at the website of Roger Rabbit and look for the terrarium tek.

My fruiting chamber is just big enough to hold four cakes, doesn't 5 inches seem like overkill?

Yeah, the size of your terrarium could be a problem. Try do get an analog hygrometer at a cigar store. That way you could see how much perlite you really need. Maybe you get away with 4 inch, depending on your ambient RH. Have to go swimming, see you and good look

Congratulations torqueman. I hope you are not messing now with your fc trying to integrate that xbox fan. If you want to continue with cakes or small trays get yourself a larger container. Five from me ! PS You could have saved that xbox and put Linux on it.

Thanks a lot! And no I'm not going to be putting the fans in this fruiting chamber, it's too small for that.
Don't worry, I have another xbox to put linux on!

Haha no, I do not. The xbox I took the fans out of had the dvd drive break down on me, so I bought a replacement dvd drive but that broke too. So I just bought a whole new xbox. Better verison anyways, they have like 6 versions.... Fuckin Microsoft.

Ah, I see. But before we turn this into a xbox thread, back to fc design. I think the danger of computer fans in relatively small containers is that they will dry out your substrate. But I guess you know that already. When I am away for a couple of days and can not fan my shotgun I just use an ordinary fan a few feet away from my chamber. It is on a timer and just fans a minute, three or four times daily. I think this solution is tolerated by RR, provided you do not position the fan to close to the fc.

Very true. I have my FC in a closet with almost no air circulation (I do leave the door cracked), so I am thinking about placing the xbox fan on the outside of the FC kind of close to it to keep air circulation going.
Should do the trick!
