The ego is the incessant noise in your head. The voice that is constantly talking, the part of you that shit talks other people, the part of you that identifies with material things, and the part of people that most people consider to be themselves. The thing that is always looking for something wrong with the present, and can't be fully content with things.

That gets erased for a period of time :thumbup:

I've never experienced it, but from what I understand it is the sensation of complete dis-attachment from your 'self'. No memory, no desire, no identity. I guess people strive towards the same thing through meditation -- complete awareness of the present moment.

your ego is you, it's when you dive pretty deep into a psychedelic experience and you pretty much cease to exist.

And you are emersed in the spirit zone pretty much.

Ego-death is without a doubt, the most difficult thing to explain. You gotta experience it first hand to even get a grasp of it

QFT

read countless Trip Reports about Ego-deaths before I experienced it. the way anybody describes it has to be taken at face value, the experience far surpasses the English language. it was the best 1,000 or so years of my life, and it only took 4 hours of ego world time. can't wait to see if it ever happens again!

and even then, what one person experiences as Ego Death, other people experience a completely different "thing". the experience is 100% personal and is utterly impossible to explain, there is not a language that we have access to (yet  ) that can convey the experience properly to people who haven't experienced it.

i was tripping really hard on 3 hits of acid a couple of days ago, and i was staring at the light around the moon and it was spiraling and i felt like i was being sucked towards it, and i started to think to myself i should get home, but i didn't know how to get there...so i stood there and looked all around the sky and in front of me, still completely lost.

after about 10 or 15 minutes i remember i can turn around and look as well, so i did that and the steps to my front door were right in front of me...i was out front of my house the whole time.

i think that was my personal ego death.

dude, that happens when i get high. no way is that an ego-death. ego loss = normal. ego death = different dimension, nothing left of the material world, including your ego.

i was having a real spiritual trip. my whole vision kaleidoscoped out of existence to the music i was listening to, all kinds of wildness.

well thats pretty cool, and i dont mean to downplay your experience, but i wouldnt call it ego-death if you think thoughts or know what a 'moon' is. maybe its just IME, but during my ego death it would have been impossible to have my own thoughts. there was no I, I became everything, and was beyond spirituality.

it lasted at least three hours and i couldn't figure out anything when i got back, i felt like my apartment was an alien society and i had to figure things out like "put water in cup, put cup to mouth and drink." i had to piss for hours but didnt know where to go or what to do. it felt really weird to be confined to a single human body, much less one that i had fleeting memories of. i didn't really come to until i fell asleep and woke up the next day.

you didnt elaborate much in your first post, so maybe you know what i'm talking about, or maybe your experience was just a way different kind, but either way, isn't it fucking :awesome: !

Its that feeling of melting into the cosmic goop.. where 'you' let go and merge with the cosmos.

Its really hard to describe, but it is one of the most beautiful, most rewarding and most deepest of all feelings.

You'll know when it happens.. because 'you' won't have any choice in the matter .

Pure self-awareness.

Any further words would only mar the essential beauty that is this state of being.

the best way i can describe it is observing the world and yourself without any pre-conceived notions/biases while forgetting you have a body. it is a very enlightening experience.
