Amanitis question
    #8803983 - 08/21/08 03:49 AM (9 years, 9 months ago)

I recently purchased an ounce of Amanitis Muscaria from a local head shop and was wondering if it is usually recommended to consume these vs. ones picked in wild. Shrooms are mostly caps in a vacuum sealed plastic jar.  Seems that they were purchased from pleasurepills.com.  Anyone ordered from this site?  Any warnings on consuming store bought Amanitis?  My roommate and I were planning on eating 1 cap a piece to test the potency, as I understand that they can be very potent depending on individual caps, season, state, etc.  Any help/info would be great.  Thanks!

holy shit all of you shut the fuck up... go actually pick some and get the true amanita Experience. There is nothing like eating a fresh one specially with the leader of your nomadic tribe. Nothing is like that other then doing i am but a medicine man and that is one of my greatest tools, a good dose of fresh amanita can pull you out of an LSD trip

Chill out man, I just asked a simple question.  And it's not like I can just out and pick them myself, I live in Kentucky and I'm pretty sure it's not common around here.  I also am fairly experienced with psychedelics and know Soma is NOT used as a recreational drug and know that is extremely poisonous.  I just want to be careful, I respect the shit out of amanitis and just want to get all the info I can before the trip.

Nothing's going to happen when you eat them (head shop ones).  Amanitas suck, you'll see.

Thedudenj, not all of us are capable of picking our own fresh Amanitas, either due to geographical location or seasonal availability.

I've had great success with ones bought from an online vendor.

trust me tho you can never get the full effect. I do kinda stand for use the sacred plant in your area cause its what you most likely need the most. when i travel and give people the amanita of their area its usually just what the needed and how it feels fits their illness. Its a medicine not a drug to get high on

For medicinal and healing purposes, then yes, local-picked ones, with the right intent of the guide, would probably have a greater effect (if only for the placebo effect, if nothing else.)  But as for taking a solo, spiritual trip--I've had mystical experiences on dried, store-bought Amanitas that were incredibly powerful and mindblowing.  Time loops, death/rebirth, union with "God," telepathy, the whole she-bang.  To say that I can never get the full effect from Amanitas just because they've been picked and dried elsewhere is ridiculous.

Cypher, how many grams did you eat?  Did you eat them straight or make a tea?  I have heard that a tea can take away some of the nausea, but I don't know if it will make a huge difference.  Also, anybody experimented with Salvia/Amanitis combinations?

Well, I don't know anything in particular about Amanitas from pleasurepills.com.  The vendor that I bought from (BBB) has been very reliable every time I've used 'em, though.

My usual dosage level is an ounce, although that's about the maximum that you should take--some people get effects on much less.  I just eat them straight; it's not THAT bad of a taste and you can just use a chaser if it starts getting to you.  Definitely smoke weed throughout the experience--it'll make getting into a trance state that much easier.

And heh, Salvia + Amanitas would be one hell of a ride.

Thanks again Cypher!  I have one more question though.  I have heard you can smoke amanitis, although the effects are usually a lot different then when you eat them.  Would you recommend trying this and eating some?

Never tried, but I've heard it's reasonably effective although less powerful than eating.  If ya got the mushrooms to spare, go for it.

so my understanding is that amanitas are nearly impossible to grow in a lab environment due to their symbiotic relationship with certain tree's root systems. So if its all gathered from the wild, I guess the only difference would be the area it grew in, and curing techniques...amirite?:whatdoyouthink:

Ok, WTF.  Just opened the plastic container and the seal has been broken and there are tiny bugs in there eating the amanitis!  I think they were in there before hand.  Also, should dried amanitis smell?  Pics coming in a sec.

Let the bugs have them, you're better off.  Go find cubies if you're looking to trip.

I haven't heard of any lab-grown Amanitas, so you're prolly right.  And that sucks about the bugs, man.  Worst I've had to contend with is grains of sand in my Amanitas.

Yeah, thats what I'm thinking.  Cubies don't grow around here and most people I know can't get any so I'm fucked!
