jar stuck...
    #8802282 - 08/20/08 08:47 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

hey everyone...

i've been growing my PF cake in a jar for about 3 weeks now. all my other cakes fully colonized, but this one is sorta at a standstill. I'd say about 80% of it is covered in white mycelium, but the rest won't colonize like it is supposed to. I've included pictures. It's looked like that pretty much for the past 3 days. What should I do?

Thanks a lot I'm a newbie grower.

Try taking the tinfoil off for better gas exchange?

Growth stopping usually means something is wrong with the cake as in a bacterial contamination or possibly mold.

Other times I have had cakes stall but finish eventually and fruit just fine.

I have had a cake start colonize after all the other jars were colonized.  4 weeks later, not one sign of contams either!  Definetly take off the foil for better air exchange, and of course patience
