Jesus Time Travel Hypothetical
    #8801469 - 08/20/08 03:25 PM (15 years, 7 months ago)

For the purpose of this thread, we shall assume several facts:

1. Time travel is possible and a machine is built. The first chronographic explorers go back to visit Jesus.

2. Jesus is found to have been an actual historic spiritual teacher though many parables and insights attributed to him were borrowed from other myths and teachers.

3. All of the alleged miracles are discovered to be extreme exaggerations and not based in reality.

4. Jesus is discovered to not have risen from the tomb, but had his body stolen by disciples to be buried elsewhere.

How would this new data likely affect modern-day Christians?

The current ones who are strong in faith would not change.  Their children, and future generations however would slowly shape their beliefs to be consistent with it, as usually happens.

They didnt really go back in time, they went to an alternate dimension under the control of satan. It was all an elaborate ruse designed to pervert the faithful here in the end times.:smirk:

Tangent: You DO know that your cartoon mom looks sort of like Veritas.

Glasses, dark hair, child, cat, garden, agnostic. Coincidence or ...?

I would never say that God definitely does not exist, my ears aren't pierced & I never wear turtlenecks.  Oh, and I would never cut my bangs into little stubs.  Other than that, though...

There is an interesting movie that has parallels to this thought called "The Man From Earth" by Jerome Bixby....
The believers were revolted at the idea that their Bible was being mocked....
There were threats of violence among friends (of ten years) at the guys "story"....

It doesn't have to be about religion....
Anyone who threatens another's strong non-religious beliefs is subject to the same treatment....
Politics anyone....?

We are all "nutters", just not always about the same things....

In the other Jeebus thread, Sandman writes (grammar corrected):

Quote:

Fuck off. How's that for a typical Christian?

See what I mean about the anger?

LoL, I just got done reading the last chunk of that thread....!
I believe that was a frustrational overload and burst due to antagonism....

Get two alpha people in a room, one republican, one democrat, add a few beers, and a couple of people poking sticks at them, and see what happens....
:poke:
Or two people that are from two rival sports teams, or cultures, etc etc....

You like to converge the light, it is fun sometimes....
