My baby mushrooms (graduated from pins) have cracks in their heads!

The humidity is obviously the cause, I live in a desert clime. The question is, is it too late to fix this pnroblem for future pins in the first flush, or am I gonna have to wait and address it (water properly) during the second flush?

Are you using that tub you refered to in your other post about chamber sizes? Is it a mono tub grow or what? You can build a humidifier like mine which is gheeto.
It works great. Keeps 100% rh and plenty of FAE. That will keep the next flushes good and you don't have to dunk.

I'm using a standard FC with four 1.25" holes drilled in the sides, and about 3.5-4" of perlite on the bottom, but the RH in my room is less than 20% average, and whenever I fan i'm removing all that 99% humidity and shoving 10-15% humidity 'dry' air into the chamber, that's why moving the air w/ humid air might be the best way.
In addition, I ended up getting over-excited about G2G transfers and have enough spawn-grain to fill up an entire martha... lol I'm kind of excited and kind of dumbfounded.
Also, where did you get your fogger? Magicmushrooms.org has them but they're UK based, and I don't have the time to wait for something to ship across seas.

Somebody gave me 2. The places I've found them online were mostly os, but there were a few in the U.S. but I don't remember the addresses. I googled fog makers and fog machines. If you look at my gallery you can see the whole tub that I used for 13 cakes. It worked great.. If you put the cakes on foil you should poke holes in it to drain water that will puddle.
You should get a Martha. A big one.

A couple of questions/points for you:
1. Have you tried misting after you fan? 2. You said you have holes drilled, so why fan at all? 3. If the tub is large enough fanning will likely not be required. 4. Try sticking an oscillating fan in the room to keep air movement up, but not have direct air blowing on the tub.

I do want a humidifier hehe. I want to design a martha chamber and ditch this perlite FC chamber (give it to a friend or something w/ some of my oyster spawn) because I got excited and have a shit-load of quart jars now colonizing. :o
I don't know shit on where to start for a martha though... other than 40 bucks at a walmart for a chamber, a few bucks for some more vinyl plastic for the bottom and a fogger at a petstore. I don't know how to design it, or where to cut holes or how to do whatever. It's probably not hard, but since I'm very new to large chambers, I will definitely need some help.

LOL. It's easy to get carried away in this hobby. Monos or Marthas and make you a humidifier. I am going to use a 18 gallon RM tub and ditch the litter tub. It's just to ghetto and if I put just a little more effort into it I can eliminate the issues I'm having.

My big problem is finding the teks. The forums are a great source of information, yet at the same time they've got So much information it's a burden to try to find what you need. Hundreds of Thousands of posts and threads about growchambers, which ones to follow, which ones will work for me? Those are the questions I'm dealing w/ now.

One of the most beautiful... I asked her in PM for a little help. This friday I'll buy all the equipment. I'm hoping she'll give me a decent list ^.^
Can you get mist on pins as long as it evaporates almost immediately after?

My FC keeps a dense fog in it all the time and I haven't had any probs. They get rain drops on them in the wild.
This is after opening and more than half the fog escaping.

You can get a Martha from 35 to I think about 70 depending on the size. If you do a true mono you don't have to have a humidifier.

If you are concerned about $$ right now I would go with a mono.

I would say go with the Martha man. Its more forgiving IMO. You dont throw all your spawn in on big ass tub and hope for the best. I mean if it works then your sooo set, but if it contams... well you just waited a lot of spawn, sub, and time. A martha is a little more costly to set up but once you have it you can push out more shroomies IMO. You dont have to wait for everything to flush out. You can constantly change your casings so your always fruiting mushies rahter than waiting for the mono to colonize and flush.
More than anything you can def make a marth for 200 or less. You need the martha which like rob said is around 30 to 70, and then just build your own humidifier/fogger like you saw with bucket in the thread earlier. Thats like 50$ for the setup. So your at like 120. Then you just needs random things like containers for your casings, pvc pieces, hose, and a light. Thats really it. You should def be able to make that for $200 and it will be a nice setup when its finished, but more importantly like i said to start, its way more forgiving to mistakes.

Oh yeah and if you need another source for a fogger with the float here is where i got mine. You need to float to keep the fogger at the right height in the water otherwise you can only have a few inches of water in the bucket at a time. It works nice though.
