If you really want an ID most people will want it in the format on this page.

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/5731447/an/0/page/0

If your just posting pics that what you did is ok.

Some mushrooms are easy to ID while others are difficult and require the information on the link that i sent you.

Good luck,
Qualm

I need to run in a few minutes, but I'll ID what I can...

#1 just might be pins of something
#2 is some type of Chanterelle, as you thought
#3 likely a purple Cort
#4 is probably a Tawny Amanita
#5 Tawny Amanita?
#6 Lactarius?
#7 need a gill shot
#8 Variable Russula?
#10 probably Russula
#11 = #14?
#16 probably Hygrophorus
#18 a Russula, perhaps R. mariae
#19 I think these are referred to as Gomphodus, but I'll need to check my books... Painted suillus: Suillus pictus
#21 more purple Corts
#22 very interesting, but I dunno...some type of blushing Amanita?
#23 Laccaria? I'm guessing here: gill shots would help
#25 probably Amanita
#26 cap makes me think it could be Psathyrella delineata/rugocephala, which appeared on another thread in recent days. Was this found on rotting wood?

Great finds!

You have to cut the gills on #2 that you think are the chantrelles.  See if it oozes orange kool aid or orange kids water marker color on your hand.

If so, it's not Chanterelle.  It's a Lactarius.

If it glows in the dark, it's yet another type.

Here's one I got just the other day.  Was IDd by a wild mushroom collector that sells edible mushrooms from the forest to restaurants.  He IDd it as Lactarius thyinos.  But it never hurts to have others try and confirm that.

I'm almost certain that #2 is a chantie since it appears to have false gills and an umbrella-shaped cap common to  the shrooms (like chanties I found earlier in the season). They should have a "savory apricot and white pepper" flavor. There is also a slim possibility that they are a harmless Hygrophorus species that are similar to chanties, but I doubt that's the case here.

The "glowing mushroom" mentioned is probably the Jack 'O Lantern mushroom, which is very poisonous. They typically appear on rotting woods in distinct clusters of pumpkin orange caps with true gills that descend down the stalk a bit (similar to the putative Lactarius pictured) and tend to have a firm, stout build whereas chanties tend to be thinner and kinda flimsy (and the false gills are more like wrinkled outgrowths of the cap than distinct tissues). They do put off a greenish glow, I've heard, but apparently it requires a long exposure time to capture it on film; the Jacks I found last year produced no glow to the naked eye :frown:
