A few of my rare books
    #880019 - 09/12/02 08:29 AM (14 years, 2 months ago)

Any other rare book collectors??

A book on the medicinal use of moulds and fungi:

From Robert Masters, a rare book on visulisation, body awareness and entity invocation. A nice work on the Egyptian lioness goddess Sekhmet:

An out of print book, edited by Stanislav Grof. Ancient spiritual traditions meets western science:

A recent acquisition, a story from 1960 of a legal (then) purchase from Sandoz of one gram of LSD-25  :

Another recent acquisition (original copy), Etidorhpa (spell it backward) A very intriguing story from the late 1800?s of spirit guides and alchemy, by John Uri Lloyd:

I could go on.......

Good luck

Well, I do have a copy of Etidorpha, not an old copy mind you, but I also have a couple of Jean Houston's books with personalized messages to me; a pristine hard-cover copy of The Psychedelic Experience signed by Tim Leary in 1979 (with a message) and 1994; and three letters from Albert Hoffman - one of which I'm going to have bronzed. Walter Houston Clark just didn't get it when he gave me his autograph at the APA convention in D.C. in 1981. Your Grof and Hollingshead books are most interesting however! Good for you! I also have a Soma: Divine Mushroom of Immortality - but it is not signed by Wasson. I'm not going into my paperback collection, but I think there are some psychedelic collectables there.

I have a Book called Journey to Ixtlan. It is really good.

Darlene: "Ted, I got you this new nose plug to stop you from snoring at night."
Ted: "Uh yeah, and I got you this paper bag to stop you from looking like James Brown in the Morning."
Darlene: "Oh come now, I don't look anything like James Brown."
Ted: "Hey kids, who does your mom look like in the morning?"
Kids... in unison: "James Brown!"
Darlene, "All right, thats enough... It's poison spaghetti for dinner tonight."

I have an 18th century leather bound Bible written in French. It has an inscription in it dedicating it to a little boy that died when he was only two. I bought in the streets of Paris at a sort of book fair.

Hey OoD -
First contact!  You haven't missed the realm of ideas, you may have missed some of the flesh-and-blood conveyors of those ideas. Tim Leary is gone, but Dr. Hofmann is a warm person who will respond to personal letters. Ram Dass is still on Earth - mostly. Hey, come on by and I'll tell you about growing up near Sandoz Pharmaceuticals in E. Hanover, New Jersey, and my deliveries to that company. Hey...I'm still here!

No-o-o-o-o...I grew up near the E. Hanover, NJ location. That is where Leary and Alpert drove to from Harvard to obtain their original psilocybin. I did try some Sandoz psilocybin, just never got any of the light blue acid tabs (although a college roommate once had a bag of 200!)

i have a book of poems from 1856 that my grandfather gave me, its in pretty good condition to.

I had a book called "behold a pale horse" all about different conspiracy theories. It actually proved them too. Its a really good book, esspesially if your into conspiracy theories. Sadly though i loaned it to someone and that person moved awaywith my book. I havent been able to find the book anywhere since then.
