Mixing your substrate's?
    #8799332 - 08/20/08 03:39 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

I have jars of all kinds left over.. What would happen if I cased them all together?  B+ Hawaiian etc...

Would they just be all mixed up or would they fight for dominance

if you mix two strains into one jar, one will eventually take over the other n youll waste the other valuable spores but if your useing a diff tek im not sure, my may fight for dominance but maybe if you put one strain on one side and the other on the othe side, you possibly could cultivate two in one. i may be wrong tho..

Well I'm sure, but I have each jar ready to go, I wanted to know if a fully colonized jar of one type can be cased with a jar of another type and fruit together in one large casein with out a problem. I don't think I can but maybe someone could enlighten me otherwise.

as far as i know yes it would work. i have seen plenty of pics on here where i see 2 different strains growing together. i've see pancyans growing with cubes before. it should work. just experiment and see what happens. nothing bad whappen thats for sure.

Psilocybe Cubensis

Psilocybe comes from the Greek root "psilos" meaning bald head and Cubensis because it was first recognized as a new species from specimens collected in Cuba.

This question gets asked at least twice per week.  I've answered it several hundred times, so please use the search function.  I just typed out the answer to this exact same question again yesterday, so it's right there by scrolling down through the posts and reading them.

Do it.  You'll be injecting hundreds of 'strains' with each injection anyway, regardless of the name on the syringe.

Remember, when hyphae from two compatible spores meet up and exchange genetic information, a strain is born.  When you inject 1 ml of solution from a spore syringe, you perhaps inject 50,000 or more spores.  Imagine all the strains created.  Since cubensis is a species, spores from many strains are going to be compatible.

Through a process called anastomosis, the strains generally merge into a common whole as clamp connections form between mycelium from various strains.  Non-compatible strains will often grow and fruit separately, giving a flush of distinctly different mushrooms.

Thanks guys, if you want to be real though anything anyone could ask is in the search, so please don't get upset when you see a post you have seen before, Sometimes I want a more one on one approach and if I ask more questions in an old post who's going to see that anytime soon? See my point.

Thank you for finding RR's Post, I did find it later on right next to mine, except with inoculating jars with two or more strains. I want sure if it was quite the same question.

wait, get one of those round silverware drawer trays or something, a big one. You can case a different strain in each section.  I bought one for that purpose, even has a see-thru dome on it.
