I have been trying to find a supplier of them since I saw Lipa's pictures with them, no luck so far. Where do you guys get yours?

Cul

Lipa, that appears to be L. mane (Hericium) on that agar.  Do you have problems getting it to grow out on agar?  (I know that it can be slow sometimes.)

Apparently, I need a different formulation of agar to try this.  Mine didn't grow out at all.  MYA/PDA work well for you?

Hi Cul,

I get them from the supermarket or Asian grocery store, or those el cheapo shops with plastic crap. Make sure they've got 5 on the bottom, for polypropylene.

What if your container has more then one code on it? Found this container that is a #7 and a #5, under the #5 it says PP compatible. To be avoided, or would it work?

Cul

Not sure. Seems strange to have 2 codes on it. I used to have a decoder for those recycling numbers, but I can't find it. Look on Wiki, they have  some parameters for those plastics-should tell you what temps it can withstand.

Maybe one code is for the lid?

I thought that too, but the lid has its own code so not likely that. I have done a bunch of googling and didnt have much luck, lots of information on the codes and what they mean, but nothing to say what it means if there is multiple codes, or what PP compatible means.

My guess is that it is official code 7 because it is a mixture of resins, but they are claiming the mixture is PP compatible so they put that on the container too, or maybe its is mostly PP.

Its a guess

Cul

Stick it in the pressure cooker empty and see what happens. If it melts, it's no good; if it doesn't, you're good to go.
