Cold Colonization

I have no air condition and have been trying to figure out ways to reduce the heat where my jars are colonizing and thus reduce the bacteria-contaminations I've been seeing more of since the heat rose. Right now through the duration of the day it's between 82-90 degrees F... which I know is not good.
(And this is with fans facing them too.. my grow room is on the 2nd floor, HOT! I can't keep them downstairs, where it's slightly cooler, because of people coming over all the time, family and shit, and I don't want 'em finding it.)
I have a mini-fridge, all I use it for is keeping my cartons of cigarettes fresh... I left the door opened to get out most of the cold, reduced the setting to the lowest possible without it turning off and closed it up, I've been doing temperature tests over the last hour and it seems to be stabilizing around 59-62degrees F.
I know 59-62 degrees isn't ideal for colonization, but I was wondering... if I could get the mycelium to establish itself in the 60 degree temp for about a week or so under no serious threat of bacteria (since bacteria tends to thrive more at room temp) I could then remove them to a warmer climate to speed up the colonization to normal when the mycelium is strong enough to stand a better chance against the bacteria... (I've noticed contams happen more frequently at earlier stages of colonization) The fridge would be dark and with recirculated air wont suffocate the jars. Plus my mini-fridge locks so I wouldn't have to worry about guests finding it outside of my always locked grow room.
So what do you think? I'm inoculating 5 brf jars tomorrow, should I give it a shot? I mean, I have plenty of prints and shit so it wouldn't be an 'all lost' situation.... but yeah... I'm thinking it could work.
Feedback if you got it... appreciate it.
Cheers

That's too cold. You can try putting them in an insulated box that you open up at night, and then close during the day when it's hotter. Otherwise, just try to find the coolest part of your house until summer ends. RR

You could try putting them inside a cooler with a nalgene full of cool water for the day.
Open the cooler at night and replace the water in the nalgene each morning.

it'll melt any ice if your minifridge has a freezer, and probably jack up your electric bill a bit, but maybe try leaving them in the door of the fridge with the fridge open?if not maybe invest in a mini AC unit or something, i know they have em for camping.

I went ahead and did the experiment.
I had my BRF substrate jars stored in a fridge until I was ready to inoculate. I inoculated the jars around 60 degrees F. and then stored them in my mini fridge. I wrapped insulated towels around the jars to slightly increase the heat. I managed to keep the temperature at 64-67 degrees for the past 2 weeks. The Jars, at this temp did colonize... slower than usual, but they did reach about 35-45% in the 2 weeks. I removed them today and transfered them to my normal colonization bin because the outside temperature has decreased in the past few days. There was no sign of bacteria or mold. The mushroom mycelium is healthy and has areas that are very rhizomorphic.
All in all, I Would say the cold colonization was a success.

What? The whole point of this experiment was to colonize mycelium without the threat of bacteria... I have a whole lab setup and a grow room, I'm not really THAT worried about it... ya gotta keep your composure though son son.
