What do you guys think of spirituality? How did it truly originate? What role does it play in human evolution, in the thought process? How has it shaped/molded/helped/heldback society or civilizations?
Are you spiritual? In what sense. Do you believe humankind would be in a sad shape having lost all forms of spirituality?
Well personally I think interest in spirituality is just an unconscious desire to return to a deeper state of mind such as when we were young and non-judgemental, and especially before birth. I have consciously experienced the pure "white light" at the moment of birth, and I think this is what people are trying to get back to. A transcendental state of pure awareness; I think some Easterners call it Samadhi.
But it could just be an unconscious need for comfort from the fear of the unknown, like I'm sure a few here will bring up...
But whatever the role of spirituality, I think that it is a necessary part of life in conscious life forms such as human beings. The more evolved we become, the more necessary it is for us to recognize the spiritual side of life and to balance this with our logical or technological side.
