Gills: radiating plate-like structures on the underside of the cap of many mushrooms also called lamella (plural: lamellae). Gills are located underneath of the cap (if it has gills instead of pores). They can be attached to the stem or unattached. It's also where the spores are located (on mushrooms that have gills).
