so for 3 out of the past 4 months i have been doing trailwork on various trails and wilderness areas in southern and central oregon. obviously that doesnt leave much time to pick. but today after two days of consistent rain i was riding my bike and stumbled across maybe 50 mushrooms, 20 of them are for sure subbs(i am spore printing all to see which are foes). i walked up onto the lawn and began to pick. 30 seconds later a elderly came out of the house and asked what type i was picking. i said "i dont know, i want to be a botanist after college so i pick mushrooms i see and identify them" she told me to take all i want and i have a interesting hobby. but over all pretty exciting for me to get a semi-decent haul after not pickin for a while. ill try to post some pics later(they are gorgeous).

Yes, but most people know what a botanist is.  If you say mycologist it sounds like a female doctor.

Hey Blimey:

Where abouts in Seattle do you hunt? I only find LBMs everywhere I go. I'm haunted by the lbm.

I hunt throughout the city. Its a big city, lost of places to look. Do what we all do and go out and simply hunt. I'm not about to give out any of my spots to some random newb, no offense.

If a mycologist is studying a woman then she must have one hell of a fungal infection....probably down you know where.:crazy2:

My understanding is that mycology originally developed as a branch off old-fashioned botany. Plenty of old articles on mushrooms referred to them as being plants! :smirk:

http://www.yourdictionary.com/mycology

Quote:

Mycology:

1.  the branch of botany dealing with fungi

Mycology is a specialist field in botany as endocrinology is a specialist field in medicine.  The Oxford Dictionary of Biology contains many definitions that are specific to mycology because mycology is a subset of botany which is a subset of biology which is a subset of science.

I'm plagued by lbms sir..

No offense taken, just curious.

I'm constantly finding them in my dreams though. I found a cube coming out of the street gutter.

I guess I just need to hunt mo.
