The two places i mentioned are extremely open and public. those places in suwanee offer nowhere to hide for either the picker or the piggers. And honestly i wouldn't drop the word weilii, i use the same excuse everytime. Amanita Muscaria... Legal in GA and all over place. Call it smart, call it whatever, i'm just someone who's really relaxed about certain things considering for a long time in my life getting pulled over meant nothing short of trafficking charges. Now that that's behind me, the worst that will happen to me is a minor posession charge or maybe just trespassing.

I was looking over some of the last few posts and want to say damn. weiliifungal you have some badass shrooms, very nice find. I have found some in cherokee, but it seems like alpharetta is just not kicking off quite yet. I am thinking two more weeks... yeah two more weeks. WEll. good luck, happy hunting, and keepsearching.

Nah..but i think i will..it was a very good trip!
well i checked my patch today after running the hose over my patch yesterday..and i was hoping the smallies i left would have grown quite a bit..but they didnt grow that much....BUT....there was some new growth...first pics are from the smallies i left..then the new growth..or i guess they couldve been smallies too that continued to grow..either way they were very "meaty closed caps...good harvest size!
this cluster of three were tiny and closed capped yesterday...beautiful
not much change from yesterday..a little bigger not much..
new growth after watering

My patch has cut back alot as far as fruiting goes, there are tons of look alikes growing though. Its strange, in the spring time only the look alikes grew at this patch. They disappeared for a while and only weilii grew there, now the look alikes are coming back and there are less weilii. It sux but im sure by fall time my other spots will produce more.

I just cant imagine rinsing of something comprised of mostly water would be detrimental..plus ive had to many mushies ruined by the real pests....bugs!! so i prefer to have mine bug free...i kinda have a bug phobia..do you know why you shouldnt rinse? other than you heard not to?

I washed my 2nd find ever and had to eat 13 to trip decently. I have never washed them again, tripped many times, and only have to eat 3-5 to trip nicely. Ive read and been told that washing them waste away much of the psilocybin.

Weilii you have motivated me to start my own searches for fungus. I myself have never tripped but after stumbling accross these forums when looking for some info, i have become deeply interested. I will be posting pics as soon as i find me my first patch, it shouldn't be too long i hope

Today's finds, sum real pretty ones today. Also notice the myc on the caps on sum of these, i think they get this way cuz they were growing under pine straw and in tight clumps of grass.
Myc on caps...
Gifts from my neighborhood...
Nice nipple
and a few more...
Check this frog out, he/she was so small they were chillin inside this dead leaf.

I wonder if theres something about the weilii habitat thats shared by the frog...i know there seems to be a lot of insects around the patch..i guess theres just an abundance of food....im just wondering if theres something more...like something about the habitat that would draw both together at this spot..because i have never seen frogs like this before..of course i have only been in ga for a couple years...but ive spent a lot of time outdoors...maybe theres something to it...the more things we can relate to the habitat the more we know in terms of locating these gifts..so thats something else for me to look into...
Also does anyone know where i can find information about soil info...more in depth than red clay...i wanna find out whats in the soil here and compare it to say....what other people have found...and possibly any kinda of datat from a mycologist on preferred soil content....thanks

Well i doubt they're eating em...but..since old mushrooms tend to attract numerous insects..Id say its just an easy spot for the frogs to find em...since the species Ive found here prefers thick layers of peat moss (just downhill from patch) and swampy areas (also present)
theres a lot of things involved in the world of mushrooms other than just the mushroom and the substrate it's growing in..like certain insects..possibly frogs unique to certain patches...squirrels enjoy some mushrooms...and I'm sure there are several other correlations

Another example is the pan subbs i find always have the same kind of larvae in them....but my weilli seem to have a lot of snails, what i call earwigs, and the little gray bugs that curl up into balls...
if studied i bet theres a relationship between the environment of the bug that evolves from the larvae and the environment of the pan subbs..posibbly the manure/fertilizer.
