It's the rocket widget, usually there's a blurb on the can that explains it.  Basically it's a poor attempt to re-create the effect of getting it from a tap (at which it sadly fails)

my fav was a locally brewed stout I used to get.
$8 a pitcher on Tuesdays, then my wife started working there and i got the same deal everyday.
It was so smooth and creamy.
and their pilsner could clean it right up.

Guiness is alright, but nowhere near my favorite stout.  I likes me ones with a rich chocolate malt.

Chocolate malt beer?

Sounds nice, don't think I've tried that before. Can you recommend any?

Obsidian Stout (Deschutes), Terminator Stout (McMenimans), Monkeyface Porter (Cascade Brewing... its not a stout but its delicous)... virtually every good microbrew stout from the pacific northwest seems to use chocolate malt.

Also, to be clear, theres no actual chocolate in chocolate malt.  Its called that because its roasted so darkly that it looks like chocolate, and adds a nice chocolately-ish flavor to the beer.

Interesting. Hopefully this stuff is available in Australia, guess I'll be checking my local liquor store. Cheers.

Oh, I didnt see your location... those are all local brews, I dont think any of them are exported.  Australia must have some good microbreweries?  Just try a few stouts that arent mass-produced, one of them is bound to be good and chocolatey.

in the pint cans it's a ball... in the bottles it's a rocket shaped widget... They're both filled with gas... mainly nitrogen... so instead of getting a carbonated beer that stays fizzy you get a nitrogenated beer that loses its gas fast and gets a creamy foamy head cause it's a quality near-draft (draught) beer.
