Habitat:
was found in my backyard outside CHARLOTTE NC directly next to a tree

Gills:
light brown

Stem:
only a couple inches

Cap:
inch to an inch and a half guessing

Spore print color:
working on that right NOW

Bruising:
how do u bruise a shroom? rough handling?

my cam sux but ill try

Too much glare on the pic really, by first impression from the cap shape/texture is some kind of Inocybe. Could be well out though.

Light brown gills rules out mycena, which would have been my first thought.

Psathyrella candolleana.

Edible according to some literature.

There are various methods to bruise a shroom:

:box: or  :boxing:

Most of the time you can pinch the stem or tear part of the cap or scrape the pores with something hard like a fingernail.

Hongos, you have a point there...it's the margin of the caps that gives it away. I didn't even notice...
