DJYoshaBYD

Please dude .. you're misreading, and your not being helpful.
I do appreciate that you're taking the time and trouble to
try to help, but you've now completely misread and/or misunderstood
most of what I've written.

If anyone has ever dealt with this strain before, please let me
know whether or not the conditions in which this tub is sitting
right now can be tweaked to encourage fruiting.

a cube is a cube.. they all require the same things.. Make sure the RH stays up around 90%, fan it out 4-6 times per day, and give it a 12/12 light schedule.. thats it.. then just keep doing that till you get pins.. you wont know the RH without a gauge, though..

dont get mad.. i was just trying to help.. you obviously are very confused on your teks, and you posted for help.. I read your post VERY carefully, and missed nothing.. YOU need to read your post again, because you do not understand casings, and you display it in your own thread, where you ask for help..

I spawned the colonized pint to coir/verm/coffe grounds/worm poo, in a
small tub. Within a couple days, it was ready for fruiting conditions.

I got lazy, and didn't provide FAE with any reasonable amount of
frequency. Last week, it finally overlayed.
I scraped the surface, and applied a thin layer of coir/verm casing,
and placed it back into spawning mode. Two days later, the mycelium
was running rampant, and I quickly gave it light, and started fanning.
It's mid-summer here, and I've placed the tub in an upstairs room, so
that I'll remember to fan it sufficiently ... so the dropping temperature
part of the fruiting plan isn't great (it had previously been placed
in a basement storage room, so that the temperature drop could be
achieved).

you JUST said in here, that you just spawned to your sub, but then you got lazy, and it got overlay.. your words.. you make NO mention of a casing layer..

If you can show me where I said that the casing was overlayed, I'll
shut the fuck up ... otherwise ... I think you've stated your case,
and I'm not accepting it.
At this point, you're crowding my thread with a lot of argumentative
nonsense, and reducing the chances that others will bother reading
through all of it and responding with some helpful information.
Thanks for the input.

I am frustrated ... as are you, I think.
Honestly .. I never stated that the coir-cased sub was overlayed ...
The following is not stated with any anger of frustration ... just
an attempt to clarify my stance here (and yes ... I am fully aware
of your stance now, so you don't need to clarify further  )
I'm not confused about overlay or casing.
I am aware that overlay is considered impossible without a casing.
But I also have enough knowledge and experience to recognize overlay.
I'll do some research on this, but for now, I question the old rule
that states that only a casing can overlay.
I am not confused about casing. When I started cultivating four years
ago, I was ... I have been fully aware of all that you have stated
concerning casing ingredients, and have been using the same knowledge
that you have imparted here for the past three years.

I think the point that was missed here, was that I have used what I
have on hand - with full knowledge that it is not optimum - in an
attempt to induce fruiting in this tub. So - the only point we are not
in agreement on here, is the issue of a non-cased substrate overlaying.
And my only question is how to better induce fruiting ... specifically with this strain ... and I think you've answered that ...
finally!

mobile broadband operators do this to reduce network traffic, everything runs threw a proxy at there end and they compress images. This happens on my computer wether in windows or linux.

anyway of topic.

Stop this madness!!!

As has been said above, uncased substrates should fully colonize.  You can't have overlay on a substrate.  I think you're confused about what a casing is, and what a substrate is.

However, it's a moot point.  I'm surprised nobody has noticed that looks far more like mold than mushroom mycelium, at least from the pictures.

Good lord, roger ... I've been doing this for four years .. with
your help!! If I'm not mistaken, it was you who clarified
all of this for me a long, long time ago.
I am not confused ... rather, I think that the ensuing posts to my
original statement have confused things a great deal.

From your opening post.

Quote:

I noc'd up 3 pint jars of WBS with a syringe of U.S. Virgin Island
strain, on June 13th.
It took 7 full weeks for only 1 of the pints to colonize - at that point,
the remaining 2 jars showed no sign of colonization whatsoever.
I spawned the colonized pint to coir/verm/coffe grounds/worm poo, in a
small tub. Within a couple days, it was ready for fruiting conditions.

From that, your substrate was coir/verm/coffee grinds/worm castings.  If one pint colonized all that in a few days, it's mold.

You know what, i think we have all not read/taking in all the information in..

Even i should have noticed that 7 days to colinise a pint of substrate is not right.

Ive taken a half pint cake and used a cheese grader to grade up spawn for poo/straw grows before.. not that big, but I have used a single half pint to colonize.. its not very reliable, but possible.. lol
