Why does everyone (especially psychedelic people it seems) love this movie so much? I don't understand what is special about it.

Does the psychedelic community "love this movie so much"?  It's a good flick, Nicholson's acting is spot-on, but the film misses a lot of the nuances of King's book.

I'm pretty sure psychedelic people love it because of rumors that Jack did a lot of LSD during that time.

Or the fact that psychedelic people watch movies on drugs.

The book is amazing, truly. The movie by comparison sucked. Badly.

most stephen king movies miss the boat on picking up his little nuances. I've found probably 75% of king-based films suck. and hard. but the other 25% are some of the best movies i've ever seen...green mile, shawshank, the shining.

off topic, but if i were to name one thing I think is overrated by a seemingly large part of the "psychedelic community" is Tool. But then again I think theyre kinda overrated by everyone

ive been to the hotel they used for the original shining movie. they only shot the outside part there, and the maze isnt, and never was there. its timberline lodge on mt. hood in oregon. beautiful place. timberline is a lot smaller than what they made it look like in the movie. totally different style inside.

Tool fans are without a doubt the most given to hyperbole.

What's the best TOOL album to hear while tripping?

I kinda like a few songs but don't understand the obsession.

I've never caught on to the obsession and don't understand why people think they better then everything just about. I mean some of their songs are alright, but i mean . As for the shining I liked the movie defiantly not my favorite by far though. I've never read the book.
