BUT
2% / .007% = only 1 fatality out of every 2,857 motorcycle accidents (BULLTHIT!)
and about 1 out of 40,000 for cars
i may very well be wrong about how dangerous they are, but these statistics are fucked.
Yeah that's definitely wrong-sounding.
Good thing I included links to the sources then, eh?
Why is it so unbelievable anyway.. I've known a number of people who wrecked, multiple times even, and they're still alive. What in your logic suggests to you that this isn't right? Many motorcycle accidents involve little more than somebody falling over at a relatively low speed, scraping up their arm and tearing all the fairings off one side of their bike, which costs a lot of money to repair.
On the iii.org website, the tables list 72 fatalities and 1,311 accidents for every 100,000 registered motorcyles just in 2006. This shows that .07% died and 1.3% wrecked just in that year. Therefore the percentage of fatalities are already 10 times greater than what you cited within 1 year, and the number of wrecks will likely surpass your quote within 2 years.
The ratio of accidents to fatal accidents for that year is 1,311 / 72 = 18. I can accept this. A ratio of 2,857 is preposterous.
Good thing you provided links to your sources.

Yeah, too bad I didn't really care enough to actually bother reading them
Here's to blowing smoke out my ass
Besides, if you're such a paranoid pussy you don't belong on a motorcycle anyway

I looked at your sources for quite a while last night, and I don't see where you got those figures.
The one page says there were 24,087 fatal car accidents in 2006, out of a total 5,864,000, which is a fatality rate of 0.41%. For motorcycles it's 4.7%
