Myrtillocactus geometrizans or 'blue myrtle'. I have 3 of those, inactive but they grow literally hundreds of blueberry like fruit when mature. Definitely worth keeping, mature plants look really cool. They are classic when it comes to cacti. Search for some pictures of mature examples and you will get what i mean. :awesome:

Cool definitely going into the garden. Pulled this little pup from some fairly large guys at an apartment complex.

ahh i wish the stock here was better. The biggest cacti i've seen at home depot and the like were little pups a couple inches tall.

So while cycling today I spotted a 10fter cactus bunch out on undeveloped property. and brought back a little pup in my waterbottle. Spines are black and look similar to the already id'd cactus but shorter. So looking for an id and hoping its a different species.

Dr :ronpaul: says to stop trying to treat the side-effects of big government and focus on the core issues. End the Federal Reserve/audit the gold reserves at Fort Knox, abolish the IRS, end all wars and occupancies, stop the building of an empire that will inevitably fail, and cut all unconstitutional federal programs. Put the power back in the peoples' hands by ending this nanny-state.

Its a Myrtillocactus schenckii, still fruit bearing and most likely a good root stock - for smaller grafts more likely tho.

cool. Thanks again. Found this huge cluster on my training ride. This lil pup looked like it was gonna flower too. Still on the hunt for new cacti to add to the collection.

Haha sweet, welcome to the addiction

Do cacti cuttings flower if they were from a mature-flowering plant?

i'd think they would because in theory they're as old as the mother or whatever you would call the host cactus. But cutting it and having it reroot would probably keep it from flowering for a while.
