My G2G has been very successful, despite my casing failure...

Well, my test casing might be a failure (as I really do believe there's a contam, the air in the chamber doesn't smell as fresh anymore and I found some sort of greyish mold on my myc) but on the bright side, I've got 7 quart jars filled half full w/ grain, oats in 3 jars, wheat in 3, and a mix in two. The oats and mix are the fastest growing, I think the wheat is too dry.

So I might have lost that coco coir cased mini-casing that I was testing, but at least I can clean everything out. This time I'm going to spawn to coir, then case w/ pure vermeculite.
I figure a few more days and I'll be ready to spawn it over. I'm going to wait until the bottoms of the wheat fully colonize.

G2G is the way to go I usually prepare my master culture from LC then G2G it to jars. I think I'd seen RR recommending this method.
-------------------- "Have you ever seen what happens when a grenade goes off in a school? Do you really know what you’re doing when you order shock and awe? Are you prepared to kneel beside a dying soldier and tell him why he went to Iraq, or why he went to any war?" Montesquieu said, "There have never been so many civil wars as in the Kingdom of God." And I begin to feel that’s true. it really doesnt matter.. I just noc'd up 2 jars the other night with some grain from a master culture, as well.. they will be done shortly.. lol
Doing LC is just adding another step.. I mean, I GUESS it might be cool if you had an isolate or a clone.. but you could also just throw the slant or piece of cloned mycelium in to a jar of grain, and it will do the same thing.. LC is a waste of time.. if you are going to put that much effort into something, then get some petri dishes and agar and start isolating.. then just take a slant from your isolate and noc up a master jar with that.. it a lil more work, but WAY better results than just making an LC from a multispore noc...

yea I know but a honey lc is easy to make whereas petri dishes are not. Additionally I can't get petri dishes in Canada, I could do it in small mason jars but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Wow, we've got a PTA (Parent Teacher Association) store right near my work that sells petri dishes by the dozens. Cheap too, a few bucks and some agar.
I'd love to get started on agar plates, but I don't have a stir/hot plate.

won't a stove work? And I was suspicious my excuse sounded lame.

What do you use the stove for? (I'm kinda stoned right now so don't mind me if asking what you meant sounds stupid )
Oh wait, I remember making the agar. Uhm, well I guess you could, but I've used hotplate magnetic stirrers before, and they're just fantastic and perfect at getting the stuff mixed up in a very sterile fashion. Just take another magnet and drag it out of the glass too.
How do you store your master cultures? Do you leave it in incubation, or do you store them in the fridge? Also, if you store cultures in the fridge, what temperature are you aiming for inside? Usually fridges are like 38F-48F.
