Is it me or is this the only place that has em?

This tree is beautiful and lasts a long time. The smell of the burnt bark is imo more favored then oak.

Why not just find one in the wild and take a cutting then clone it?

Ah, there's your problem. They're an east coast tree. I find them all the time in GA. Apparently there is a specific subspecies with a different bark patterning that you want if you plan on doing any kind of synths with them.

Synth? I think this tree is fucking beautiful to be quite honest. The leaves provide quite a bit of shade and the color of leaves that i'd like to spread out around my pine tree when autumn comes would make it look like in the middle of a forest. I've been trying to create a better Christmas card to beat my aunt but she seems to always kickass on the best scenery.

like gumby said, those thngs grow like weeds out here, the young leaves aer used to make filet powder, used in cajun cooking. the root bark is used for sasafrass tea, of course I've hear rumors that people do other things with the stuff as well, and it would take 20-25 years to get a significant amount of bark to do any sort of syth but like you said, they are a nice tree

Yeah, this is such a common plant you shouldn't have trouble ordering seeds. I mean, unless you have an MDXX lab or something.

I'd have no problems with rooting a cutting and sending it to someone, but I really have no clue how to ship a rooted cutting this time of year. Also, I doubt I'd be able to find the exact subspecies/cultivar that you're looking for, but I could find Sassafras easily.

if you started rooting it now it would be ready by november-february, that's the time to ship it, either pack the roots in wet sawdust or wet news paper, plastic around that, box it and ship

Really funny that this topic came up. Gumby, if you're going to do this would ya mind rooting one for me as well? Long story, but that would impress the hell out of a girl I've been mackin' on for a bit.
I'd gladly cover your shipping and a little extra!
