Fruit and Vegetable Juicer
    #8769996 - 08/13/08 06:57 PM (15 years, 6 months ago)

I've been thinking lately of going on a fast, and the idea of a juice fast sounds very intriguing to me.  However I'm not exactly sure what it is.. and what the best way of going about it would be.  As of now it seems that i should simply buy fruits blend them up with some orange juice and drink it like a smoothie.

some questions...

Will this have a toxin removing effect?  And if so for how long should I do it.

What fruits work best to keep my body going?  Is using frozen packaged fruits OK?

Can i throw in vegetables too... and if so which?

Thanks for any opinions and help.

That will help, but if your looking for a complete detox try The Master cleanse, enemas, and the liver/gallbladder flush. Juice fasts can be dangerous and really won't get the body moving as well as those other options. You'll be surprised what comes out of you.

Here is good info on cleansing

good luck

Hey!  I'm doing a juice cleanse right now.  I drink mostly orange juice, which I juice by hand, strain and sometimes blend with spinach (and the strain again).  I also have an ancient juicer that I use for pineapple or apple juice.

my dream juicer (if you have money) is the Green Star...

But I'm loving the simplicity of citrus right now.  Almost day 7 for me...

If you do juice, make sure it doesn't have much pulp.  That's why I use a paint strainer bag to strain mine.  The more fiber, the more your hunger pangs will stick around.  There is also lots of detoxing with juice only...the yesterday I had some PUTRID stuff come out of my ass that stank like hell...whereas before the juicing I had a very clean diet of almost pure fruit and my shits smelled rather fruity.  Now they're disgusting and I can tell it's because I'm releasing garbage from inside...

Doing juice also makes it easier to water-fast, if you want to switch over.  I did a water fast today and broke it on some fresh-squeeze OJ.  Mmmm...

Good luck...however you feel drawn to cleanse.

Oh, and by the way: there is no set limit...some people juice fast/feast up to 3 or 4 months with safety.

Oh, watermelon juice is yummy too!  Just blend and strain.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Nice fail.

Icelander told me that he just bought a blender that is so powerful it will reduces anything to liquid. Apparently it will make smoothies out of granite. He just blitzes whatever vegetables he wants in it and consumes it all in liquid form.

I have thought about just getting a Vitamix...the King of all Blenders...but then I would still have to strain by hand to get all the fiber out.

I don't know...I still might go the high-powered blender route.  I'm definitely in the market right now to up my juicing capacity.

I like the idea of the Green Star because it seems cleaner, somehow...I'm could use a break from straining juice by hand.  I go through strainer bags and I still don't get all the juice out of the pulp because if I squeeze TOO hard, the bag will burst.  The Green Star reportedly gets the pulp so dry, it's like sand...

Mmmm...I love plant blood.

It's gotta be a vita mix I would think. And the green star is nice, but as with anything there's the trade of it being a pain in the butt to take care of. But for those of us who juice a lot, the investment in time is more than made up for in the return that's gotten from the juice that would otherwise be lost in the pulp.

The more expensive ones that Rotate under a certain amount of RPMs are supposed to be healthier because they don't generate a positive charge that offsets the natural antioxidant negative charge of fruits and vegetables like a fast turning blender does. I got mine for 200 to three hundred when my ex-girlfriend got lung cancer two years ago. We used only alternative treatment and turned down the conventional "Take out your whole right lung" ectomy suggestion. She died 3 months after her predicted expectancy date...

Just kidding, lol. She lived.
And the general idea is to mix citrus with alkaline vegetables because citrus is WAYYY to acidic to be the base of one of these protocols. I liked carrots the best. Look up some juice recipes. I never heard of juicing being dangerous though.

I'm so excited...looks like I'm gonna be able to get the Green Star within the next week or so...then I'll be able to have much more variety with my juicing.

I heard cleaning can take about 6-10 minutes but the reassurance that I'll have that all the nutrients are being extracted from the fruit/veg is so worth it.  I hear juice lasts for days from the Green Star.
