If the question is about amanitas then no assumptions about which one should be made other wise you could be responsible for poisoning someone. It is probable that he is talking about Amanita muscaria var. muscaria but then again it could be Amanita phalloides.
I am not an expert but a friendly warning is better than an assumption, which could cost someone his or her life.
I hope this makes sense
""The popular interest in gathering and eating uncultivated mushrooms has been associated with an increase in incidents of serious mushroom-related poisonings (1 ). From December 28, 1996, through January 6, 1997, nine persons in northern California require d hospitalization after eating Amanita phalloides (i.e., " death cap") mushrooms; two of these persons died. Risks associated with eating these mushrooms result from a potent hepatotoxin. This report describes four cases of A. phalloides poisoning in p atients admitted to a regional referral hospital in northern California during January 1997 and underscores that wild mushrooms should not be eaten unless identified as nonpoisonous by a mushroom expert. There are no indications that A. Muscaria is harmful to the liver that I am aware of. Actually, the muscimol passes the liver rather unaffected. I've heard of some concernes that the myceal network could interfere with other myceal networks of more toxic aminitas near by. Doesn't seem likely, but Im no mycological toxin expert, Im to young for that shit.

Amanita muscaria is variety of mushroom that grows widely almost everywhere in the northern hemisphere. It is listed as poisonous in most mycology sources and it's use is not common because it's effects can be somewhat unpleasant, though it has been used traditionally by a number of cultures. There are conflicting reports on whether there has ever been an A. muscaria caused fatality. Be careful! It may be poisonous at high doses or to sensitive individuals. A. muscaria can be taken orally and there are also some claims that it can be smoked for effect. All parts of the mushroom are psychoactive, though there is some evidence that the material just under the skin is the most potent. The chart below shows approximate oral dosages dried A. muscaria in grams (g).
Dosage is for completely dried cap material only:
Oral A. muscaria Dosage
Light 1 - 5 g (1 medium cap) Common 5 - 10 g (1-3 medium caps) Strong 10 - 30 g (2-6 medium caps)
Onset : 30 - 120 minutes Peak : 1 - 2 hrs Duration : 5 - 10 hours (higher doses seem to last longer) Additional After Effects : 1 - 5 hours
POTENCY VARIATION : Many people recommend starting quite low when first working with Amanita muscaria, especially with an untested variety. Usually 1 small to medium cap is recommended as a starting dose. Once the strength of a given sample is known, many people recommend 1-5 caps totaling 5-20 grams of dried material.
The potency of individual A. muscaria mushrooms is highy variable, seemingly dependent upon the season in which they are picked and significant regional variations Mushrooms from the same area in different seasons may have different effects (ratio of nausea/body effects to mental / entheogenic effects).
If the post was in the right forum it mite of got a more educated responses - I don't know that much about them, I was just worried that some one was going to take a large dose of something which they did not know anything about In my opinion you can not compare the dose of cubs to these mushrooms which don't contain the same psychoactive components! If your not sensitive to Psilocybin it doesn't mean you wont be sensitive to Ibotenic Acid & Muscimol. That's the only point I was trying to make.
You are welcome to disagree but there is no need to flame.
btw I did take the time to read the posts but I failed to find where you state that you are talking about Fly Agaric Mushrooms and I must of mist the link.
be safe!
