Harnessing electricity from ceiling light to make electrical outlet?

OK, I have a technical question that I don't believe has ever been asked on this site and I haven't been able to find advice elsewhere online. I'll start by explaining my situation:
I am living with two other roommates and we are all good people. I, however, would like to start a small clandestine shroom operation in one of my two closets. There are no electrical outlets in said closet, but there is a ceiling light with a single bulb. In order to keep this on the down-low, it would be best if there were no wires and things of that nature leading into the mysterious closet.
Is there a way to harness the power leading into the overhead light and create an outlet that could be used to plug in things like a humidifier? If so, does anyone out there have advice that could help me? Before I mess with it, I want to know if is potentially too technical to be solved by someone who is not an electrician. Any thoughts? Is this even possible?

Never seen one of those before.
Interesting.

Installing an outlet is very simple, and its simple to do safely too.
First of all what kind of walls do you have, drywall or plaster? Do you have an Attic? Do you have a basement?
If you have drywall walls, and an Attic this would be very simple. Just turn off the breaker supplying the closet, tap into the light with some 14-2 and fish it to the hole you cut in the wall to install the outlet box.

Sherm had it right. Just pick up an adapter. You can even get one that will allow you to still use the light in there if you need it. Check out this one.

Heh. Beat me to it.
Try to find one that has a pull-chain built in (I think the one I posted does) to turn the bulb on and off. That way you can have the power on all the time to your other items but turn off the light.

Yeah because having an extension chord hanging from the light socket on the ceiling to a rubber maid tub is so low key. Anyone who opens the closet is going to want to know what the chord is doing. I was thinking more on the lines of installing an outlet on the floor right behind where the tub would sit. but I'm an electrician so thats a walk in the park for me.

Well, I wouldn't advise anyone who has to ask this question in the first place to attempt an installation of a new power outlet. But thats just my thought.

Besides...

Sounds like wires inside the closet are not a concern. He just doesn't want to run a power cord in from outside. And besides, if you carefully route the cord along the wall and down to the grow-op it wouldn't draw any more attention then the setup itself. If someone looks in the closet I doubt the cord will be any more of an issue then the strange tub with fungus growing in it.

LMAO, you guys are hilarious. Thanks Sherm--that's way easier than I thought it would be. And Summit, you were totally right on. The operation will be completely contained and secure behind a locked door. If anyone can get beyond that door, then the cat's out of the bag anyway. Lol. And I'm a she... not that it matters.
Thanks so much everyone!

yeah, they are gonna be completely mistified by the power chord, but not the strange box of shrooms. lol. btw, those adapters are great, but they do wear out after a bit.
