Leroy Carr, Tampa Red, Sleepy John Estes, Reverend Gary Davis, Mississippi John Hurt, John Lee Hooker, Elmore James, T-Bone Walker, RL Burnside... that's all I can think of for African American blues at the moment.
There are a lot of good british blues bands from the late 60s as well.

How do you love them if you don't know any of the artists?

Just went back and put my tops picks in bold, since that's a lot of names to sift through.

I'm checking them out now. Jesse Fuller is one talented man.

Because I've listened to the blues and like the way it sounds just don't know artists. Maybe love was the wrong word I really like the blues better?

Nope. It's NEVER good enough.
Fine, I accept your great love of the blues, and "love" is a perfectly fine word to use.

Why has no one said B.B King yet?
I would consider Cream and Jimi Hendrix to be blues as well

Oops, BB definitely should've been on that list. Albert and Freddie too, the three Kings. Skip James should have made the list as well. Oh, and Willie Dixon of course (he didn't have a regular band, but would typically play bass on the first recording of any song he wrote)
Hendrix is clearly very blues-influenced (compare Jimi to T-Bone Walker), but he virtually never played blues (as the genre is typically defined)... he played blues-riff-based rock. Kinda quibbling, but eh
Cream I lumped in with the Brits... but hell, I like British blues as much as American roots blues, so I'll churn out my list of them as well:
Cream, the Yardbirds, the Animals, the Rolling Stones (early material), John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, the Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation (), Fleetwood Mac (in the Peter Greene days, obviously), the Groundhogs, Love Sculpture, Sam Apple Pie, the Climax Chicago Blues Band, Alexis Korner Blues Inc., T.S. McPhee, the Savoy Brown Blues Band... that's about all I got for Brits, I think.

Check out Son House, amazing Delta Blues, he's the guy who wrote Death Letter. If you want something more contempory, with more rhythms, check out Little Axe.

Yup, Son House is one of the greats... looks like I also forgot Mississippi Fred McDowell (the Stones covered his song You Gotta Move).
For contemporary blues, I really like the North Mississippi Allstars.

Ledbelly, Buddy Guy, Otis Spann, all good bluesmen. Also, I don't think I mentioned James Cotton, Jimmy Reed, or Otis Rush.
Snooky Prior I'm not familiar with, I'll have to check him out. I didn't mention Stevie Ray because I was avoiding modern electric blues for the most part, but he definitely kicks ass (Live at el Macambo is a stellar video).
