What about leaching from the enzymes coming into contact with the plastics? Sorry about the anal questions, this looks like a great idea- I just want to be sure that I'm not missing anything important.

cereal bags are made of plastic #2 so it would be the same as using a milk jug or soda bottle. i doubt there would be any kind of problem.

they have grown fairly pale. most likely due to the low light level on my porch. i dont expect they'll get much bigger than this. maybe flush #2 will produce larger fruits.

Small is ok. After all, you're just recycling, right? I'll trade my trash for a little bit of something I want any day.

Damn, that's a shame. Well, at least something enjoyed them.
Beautiful grow anyway. I'll be innoculating some grain jars with pink oyster culture today.

RR, you're a blessing. I'm glad to know the hundreds of wasted old phone books now have a use! I'll have to start utilizing them.
What do you guys suggest as the best disposal method for your lime bath water? You can buy muriatic (hydrochloric) acid or sulfuric acid to neutralize the base, but that still leaves either a lot of calium chloride or calcium sulfate (water sol./water insol., respectively) to worry about. I don't think the sulfate will hurt anything, but the chloride levels available from the soluble CaCl2 might hurt plants, etc.
Thoughts?

yeah it'll hurt plants and you obviously dont want it in your water or down your sink (though its probably no more harmful than human shit and most everybody is still flushing that away). Pour it on some weeds and keep it away from water sheds. Anyone else......
