This is my updated shotgun FC it has about 250 holes all together on all sides. Their is a screen on the botttom to catch any perlite that falls through the holes. I only have one light now it is a 15watt 6500k CFL set on on a timer for 12/12. What do you think?
This is my new glove box that i am pretty proud of, I used PVC pipe fittings for the arm holes and the sleeves are homemade from trash bags with elastic material at the ends to make a nice fit and cuff, tell me what you think. I have some questions about using it though, I have heard so many things about how to sterilize it before using to prevent an explosion I am just confused. What is the best method for sterilizing the inside before use, bleach?, Lysol?, soap? alcohol? Thanks

IMO-Bleach spray the first time, from there on use lysol for each time you inoculate a set.

if i use Lysol and plan on using a torch lighter inside the GB how long should I wait for the Lysol to settle so it doesn't blow!?

10-15 minutes.
Using the lighter inside the GB raises some questioning for me though. I've never seen flaming a needle inside the GB. Even in the RR video Roadkill has the lighter outside the GB. I've heard of some hand burning accidents because people did something wrong and flame sterilized inside the GB.
I should probably look into that, as well as you maybe.

ya ill check into it. I think the box is big enough so it won't melt or anything or heat up to much on the inside

i wouldnt use lysol for your glovebox. its been known to cause mutations and that stuff lingers awhile. use alcohol or a lite blech sloution like was suggested.
i always do my flaming outside of the glovebox. its a safe bet. it anything does land on the needle from the flame to the box (highley unlikley) it will burn up.

I've also heard that Lysol causes mutations. ill prob just use alcohol it seems like a lot of people do that and it seems safer.

if you use alcohol, be damn sure you dilute it with water and give it a good long time to dissipate. I've read several stories of people starting fires on this very site. I'll try to hunt one down for a link.

91% alcohol evaporates really fast. and that's why i suggested that you do all of your flaming outside of the box.

And since I didn't say it before, that is very fine handiwork on the FC and GB. My stuff looks all ghetto compared to that.

Yup had this happen to a friend a couple of weeks ago !
BOOM!! Singed his eyebrows and bout made him shit himself. Then he had a big fire to deal with because of the alcohol soaked paper towel inside the box ! BE CAREFUL!!

do u really need the light inside the tub? kinda affects the temp and Rh? right? also i believe oust doesn't cause any mutations..

very true...learned from experience. i went to light my lighter and bam, flames flying up one glove so i wacked it with the other and both hand were flaming and everything else inside. i melted 3 spore syringes and a print. fucken lucky that i didn't melt the gloves to my arm. i pulled out at the last minute to see the flames follow my hands out the holes barley melting to my arms. yeah first of all WAIT for the lysol to not be in a vapor before going at it, and ALWAYS flame out side the box!

the light is taped to the outside of the lid. When its on the RH does drop from 99% to 94% but that is still plenty of RH,and the temp only rises like 2 degrees. It's definitively worth more pins and bigger fruits.
