Ok i was stupid, wrapped the shit in black tape and fake return addy, Its been a week still haven't received it.
Do you think LEO will try a controlled delivery?
Could they even figure out whats in it?
Are they just holding to release it at a latter date?
What could be keeping it for so long?

USPS Priority or Express. Fake return is ok as long as it is valid. Never a problem.

Dude regular 1st class USPS mail could easily take a week or more. Also, Sundays don't count.

First class mail can not be opened without a warrant signed by a judge. When you cross the usa border then it's another story and they can open it at their whim. Within usa you are safe unless a drug dog barks, then maybe but in your case dont' worry.

99% you're OK. If they leave the package at the door, it's unlikely anyone opened it. To be sure, don't open it for a day or two once it arrives - as long as they can't prove the reciepient knew what he had, they can't make a case.
If they did intercept it, just don't accept a hand-delivered package or sign for it. Cheapo mail should be left at the door if no one answers a knock. They need someone to receive it to make a good case. If the recipient has a hand delivery attempted, he should immediately state that he did not order said package.
If they open the package they might recognize the chocolates for what they are. The DEA has been on to shroom chocolates for years - they're a regular subject in the Microgram Bulletin and the DEA probably helps give postal employees at hubs ideas on what to look for.

But chocolates are chocolates?
The smartest thing to do would get a box of Godiva chocolates, eat them all, and refill them with your special chocolates :p

In one case that JohnM and I often refer to as a precedent for postal searches (Shapiro v. Someone, I'm feeling a little lazy right now) a dog did hit on a package containing psilocybin. The decision I read for this case did not specify what form the psilocybin was in., but it was the only illegal thing in the package. The package aroused suspicion due to hits on several criteria and was snifffed by a dog, who hit on it.
Now this could be a shroom trained dog or not - we don't know. There are lots of possible reasons why the dog could have hit without being shroom trained. Maybe the handler was corrupt (happens). Maybe the dog smelled marijuana residue (the sender had marijuana in his house). Maybe the dog just screwed up. We simply don't know for sure if shroom trained dogs are out there, but there is a possibility. Still, without getting pulled due to meeting several criteria, a package isn't even sniffed.

You said that you used the cheapest method availible - I'm guessing that this was Parcel Post. This can take weeks, since it is basically lowest priority ground transportation. The USPS site, somewhere in the FAQ said the following about Parcel Post.
Quote:
Typically 2 - 9 days in the 48 contiguous states for most origins / destinations. Specific time standards may be available when postage is calculated.
If you don't count Sundays, you're still within the 9 day window. Some packages are bound to just be slow too. Don't worry yourself.
Remember, they need to make a controlled delivery. There is no reason a Parcel Post package can't be left at your door, so if they want a signature, refuse the package.
If they take too long to sniff the package after pulling it for "reasonable suspicion," then this in itself cen get the evidence supressed (see the Shapiro case). Of course if they just take forever after sniffing it and getting a hit, then the evidence is still admissible.

yeah, best case is simply to receive the box, and don't open it.
Then leave it by the door or wherever.
You might even wanna write return to sender on it, but who knows... I would think most people would simply open an unknown package they recieve, not return it, so you may be better off just leaving it by the door unopened.
Then wait a day or two and you're probably in the clear.

that would be a trick to train him, the dog would hit all over if he was trained to smell mushrooms, my ex girlfriend mother was a k-9 unit cop and she was tellin me how there only trained for a few drugs, mushrooms not being one of em.

You could always just pick up the box, put it in your car, drive to a remote area where there is no one for miles, rip it open, check for bugs - if it's clean, eat that shit. If it's bugged, smash that bug, eat the evidence and ditch the junk in a river.
Or use a metal detector on that box.
I dunno... if you wrapped it up real stupidly, you'll probably notice if it got opened.

Well, did you ever get the package? I've never had luck with parcel post. Media mail is as low as I go and that is only for sending books that people have bought from me over amazon. If you are worried about the legality of the packages contents are, make sure you send it the fastest method possible. The less time it is in someone else's hands, the better IMHO.
