Pan Sub identification help NH
    #8702184 - 07/30/08 01:01 PM (15 years, 7 months ago)

Hey, Im new here and I joined because I wanted to be able to identify some mushrooms in my area. I work at a golf course and am always looking out for what seems to be regarded as the most common hallucinogenic shroom, the pan. sub. I just picked a few today that match many of the descriptions Ive researched but I wanted to post some photos to see if they are indeed an active species and that Im not confusing the subtleties with some other mushrooms.

I don't see bruising but sometimes they don't display it;
do a spore print and let us know the color.

Actually, closer inspection they don't look active to me, still can't tell you exact name.

They don't appear to be Panaeolus at all, looks more like a Psatherylla species.
Panaeolus spores are black, Psatherylla spores are purplish.

I think its an Inocybe due to the scurfy stem and cap and tan color gills.  What kind of tree was nearby?

I'd say those are non-active.

I just went on another hunt to a place where people ride horses and there was no shortage of shit. I found these very close to the shit, are they subs?

take a few pics with you next time and write down their characteristics so you know...best to study the actives in your area(if thats what you are looking for) and any possible lookalikes that could be dangerous and then go looking for just those,based the info youve found and where they grow...if your looking for subbs,they grow on a mix of horse poo/sometimes cpoo and other substrate,such as straw,woodchips,soil,etc..hope this helps

No, they're not subbs. Not even close. Read up on how to find them and start taking some spore prints.

If you would have printed those mushrooms you would have known they weren't subbs as soon as the spores dropped.

Not trying to sound like a dick, but your current approach for finding subbs isn't going to get you very far. Read read read! :rockon:
