Apple Cider...
    #8704258 - 07/30/08 08:28 PM (16 years, 5 months ago)

OK...I haven't fruited from a cake in several years...But I had an extra cake, so I figured...Why not???

Here's the thing...It smelled JUST the way it should when I birthed it...I rinsed it...Soaked it for 24 hours and just as I was about to roll it in vermiculite, I noticed an yeasty, kinda apple cider smell...I don't ever remember smelling this before...BUT...It doesn't smell BAD...Just different...

What say you???

If you're only birthing the one cake, give it a try. If you risk contaminating other projects, toss it. :2cents:

Sounds like bacterial contamination.

Yeah...It's a solo cake in a solo chamber...But I haven't had a contam in the new house yet...and I really don't wanna start now...I think it's too hot here for it to survive outside...Not sure how to proceed...May give a day or two...

TRUE or FALSE...

A bacterial contam is less likely to create a lasting problem in your home than a mold contam???
