I was thinking about adding tons of earthworms to this. Any thoughts on that? Will the earthworms cause any problems when it comes time to pasturizing the manure (ie rotting flesh) when it comes time to mix with spawn?
Prob not a good idea. You would be better off building a a worm farm and collecting the casings then adding them to your mix. Rotting flesh cant be good.

Fully colonized manure is impervious to earthworms, so they'd have to crawl out or die. RR

I don't have any experience with growing mushrooms but I have wondered what you might be able to use the worms for with growing shrooms. I burried a cap and some spores in a red worm farm once just to see what would happen and there was a white fungus growing all over but I thought it might be something bad so I kept covering it up and the worms ate it.. the cap was old and bacteria probably killed the spores so the fungus was probably not mushroom fungus. But I wonder if there's any beneficial bacteria in worm shit that a mushroom fungus might be able to use. They say a worms body has unique nutrients or growth hormones in it that plants can use. Not sure about fungus though. I still wonder if the worms would eat the living mushroom fungus once it were well established. Worms are good for composting though, so they should break down the manure well for the fungus. Interesting topic. I'll keep it bookmarked till it ends.

Ooops I didn't mean add the worms to the grow rather add worms to just the waiting tubs of manure.
Will only use 50 pounds of this within a few days and the rest will sit for probably a month so I wanted earthworms to do their worm goodiness until I needed the manure.

Might be a pain in the ass to get them out.. I have a small multi level worm farm i put my kitchen scraps in and i trick them in to moving. once they have done their job on one level i dont put food on that level any more i put it on the level below and they migrate down after a few days and i can take the worm rich casing compost and use it. Do you really want to dig them all out? Maybe if you use a 1/4 mesh screen and sift them out?

if you compost it you can add worms and composted poo works just as good as any. The worms wont be to hard to remove, we have worms in our compost pile but they're easy to remove if you dry the ccompost and sift you can get them all no prob.
