The things they think are "newsworthy"

Story linked from Yahoo's main page just now...

Man, if they wanna do a story on a fancy swimming pool at least try to find one that is actually fancy and badass!  But just because this guy is a pro ball player they think its newsworthy.  Trust me, those fake mountains with grottos, waterfalls, and rockslides are a dime-a-dozen these days in the pool bussiness!

I have worked in the construction industry for 25 years now.  Much of that has been working on mega-mansions.  Some of these places I've worked on are 30,000+ square feet.  And these rich people don't skimp!  I have seen some of the most amazing custom made things money can buy.  Countertops, cabinets, fixtures, flooring, doors and windows, etc.  Stuff hand made from all over the world.  One of a kinds, and high end things that only large amount of money can supply.  And let me tell you...these rich folk go all out on their swimming pools also!

Believe me, a "million dollar swimming pool" is not uncommon.  But I'll tell you right now, from the pictures I saw in that story above, that NBA player got shafted if he spent a million on that blase pool!  I just wish I could walk you people through some of the houses I've seen.

Just last week I was working on a house (ummmm...20,000 sf mansion, that is) which had one of the sweetest pools I've ever seen.  Its too hard to expain in words, but just imagine a pool that not only encompasses your backyard but cascades through about 20 different waterfalls (some small, some falling over 15 feet) through several levels, with assorted jacuzzis along the way, to end up in a basement level swimming pool with open air access to the sky above.  I know, hard to visualize.  Believe me, the description does not do it justice!  But lets just say, there are a shitload of way nicer pools out there then 'ol Mr. ball players above!  But I guess because hes famous we gotta see his shitty pool instead.
:nonono:
