Olympic Baseball Rule Change...
    #8699839 - 07/29/08 10:20 PM (15 years, 5 months ago)

How stupid is this...

In order to try and eliminate overly long baseball games in the Beijing Olympics, the rules committee has decided that if the game is tied after nine innings the two teams will allowed to be play the 10th inning under regular rules.  However, if no team scores, at the start of the 11th inning the batting team gets to place men on first and second base w/ no outs.  In addition, they can choose where they would like to start in their line-up, w/ the only caveat being that the two men on base must precede the chosen batter in the line-up.

Dumbest rule change ever.

Is that even baseball?

Sadly, baseball has degraded into a sport fueled by roids so I guess no one really cares anymore

Actually, baseball (the good old American MLB variety) is going to break its all-time attendance record for the second year in a row.

Thanks, come again.

I don't think he was saying it was unpopular.  His point *could* even be the steroids are making it more popular!

Olympic baseball is not baseball, never has been, never will be.

I'd go so far as to say that if it's not play in the US, it ain't baseball.

This is what happens when other cultures play baseball:

Everyone agrees, that at this point, we're down to less than 5% (MUCH less according to many insiders) of MLB'ers using gear. That's about even with the average population.

Where'd you come up with your statement at??

The Olympics are a disgrace and have been for decades.  You all can like them but I think there is no greater bunch of whores on the planet than the supposed philanthropists flitting about at great expense for the furtherance of........some second or third world legitimization.  They awarded the games to one of the worst regimes on the planet, for fuck sake.  And they did it with Moscow in 1980.  The incredibly stupid fuckwads wanted to ban Iraq because the government had too much influence in the committee when half the old committee was corrupt and the other half kidnapped and missing.  By that criterion the USSR and all of its puppets and China never should have been allowed.  NOTHING happens there that isn't government controlled.  Juan Antonio Samaranch was one of the biggest assholes ever to get his name in a newspaper and the current junta is no better.
